Speed should start over Bland

It allows him to jump routes, play with leverage, and play in more press. He gets exposed vertically when he has to play off man with no leverage - he is so terrible at that I don't know why they ever ask him to.
Bland was always good at jumping outs because he could play with inside leverage boxing the WR against the sideline.
Play with leverage in the slot and the receiver can just run away from your leverage.
Bland doesn't have much speed but he does have a nose for the ball. Gets better the shorter the field gets.
Foot surgery two years in a row and he just falls down on the field. He ain't right.

We all know the drill by now. All of the underperforming players that have the big contracts will be starting and playing the entire game unless the get hurt. Enjoy them......they are the gift that keeps giving every week.
This is the way. See: Zeke in the playoffs.

What irks me about Bland is how did he fall down or slip that many times in a game played on our turf indoors?!

No one said change your cleats?
I think he is wearing special orthotic shoes to prevent breaking his foot again.
- That basically means the shoes are stiff and heavy.

Years ago I had custom orthotic inserts made based on a Doctor's specifications.
- They are hard plastic front to back.

Why can't you play with leverage in the slot? You absolutely can.

Ameer Speed should be starting over Bland now that JPJ will be back. Yes a UFL player over the 90 million dollar cornerback.

Watch the tape. He keeps his feet and he’s all over the WR he’s covering and has length.

Will they do it this week? We will see…..
Speed was DNP for Wednesday's practice.

It appears to me that Bland hasn't fully recovered from the foot problems that has haunted him in the past. Something needs to be done about it, since the problem is still causing pain for Bland. Perhaps Devin Moore or JPJ could help to resolve that problem if it continues. Maybe Bland needs more time to recover, if nothing else. Making Bland play hurt will only hurt him more, in the long run. Find a solution.

Just saw Speed is on the injury report as DNP practice for a knee. Guess we’re not allowed to have more than two healthy CB’s.

We're in agreement on this. Hopefully, putting Porter at boundary corner and Bland at field corner will help him some, but he needs to play press.

If it doesn't, then we probably need to put Revel out there over him and live with the mistakes to see if Revel can reach his potential. That would reduce Bland to slot duties until our safeties are healthy enough to return Downs to that role.
