When Sean Payton left Dallas to become the Saints Head Coach in 2006, they signed Drew Brees away from the Chargers.
He then attempted to trade for Tony Romo but Parcells and Jerry Jones vetoed that.
As the Cowboys quarterback coach in 2003, it was Sean Payton who convinced Bill Parcells to sign Tony Romo as a rookie free agent.
Drew Brees selected Sean Payton as his presenter when he was inducted in the HOF.
In other words, Sean Payton flat knows how to analyze and train NFL quarterbacks.
You can count on these attributes for Bo Nix:
1. Nix will play within himself and Sean Payton will determine his role in his offense depending on what he beleives Bo is capable of at that particular time.
2. Bo Nix will evolve. Sean Payton has the same temperament towards the QB position that Bill Parcells had toward his defense. He will ensure Bo's constant improvement.
3. Regardless, Sean Payton will provide genuine competition until he is convinced that Bo has become an elite NFL quarterback.
Tom Brady didn't light up the NFL his first few seasons but he was smart, careful and dependable.
Tom Brady didn't get his first QB rating of over 90 until his 4th season. However, during his first three seasons he accumulated 11 game winning drives in the regular season and 4 in the playoffs.
Now I'm not saying that Bo Nix is anywhere near "the next Tom Brady." He has a long journey ahead of him as it is.
Meanwhile, the "unfinished" version is racking up "W"s in early Tom Brady fashion, simply by not being the reason they lose.
Not to mention, you get some additional wiggle room with a perennial top ten defense in points allowed, the same as Brady in his formative years.
