Cowboys still haven't recovered from Parsons trade yet

It was for GB. I can't believe they agreed to it!
I was actually shocked that GB gave us 2 firsts for a one dimensional player. Parsons is Robert Quinn. Great pass rusher, poor run stopper. Did y'all see the way GB continuously ran right by him in that playoff debacle????

And Micah’s body isn’t meant to take that punishment for a full season. He should have stayed at LB.

Since the D needed to be completely revamped, it's simply too early to make this assertion. You keep leaving out the fact that our D sucked w/ Parsons(28th), and it takes more than a season to rebuild an area of the team. Unfortunately Jerry is going for a quick fix. That means it might be good in 27, but it won't last long when you're trading for/signing players who are already in their late 20s.

To put it plainly, there wasn't anything to recover from.
I’d argue at 28th didn’t suk as bad. We at least had a pass rush which helped mask weakness in secondary .

And with a pass rush and not bottom of the league and or historical bad defense with Dak and our offense would have been more of a playoff contender .

Until we can return to playoffs we haven’t recovered. And I’m not just talking defensively.

1st 3 years were a playoff team with Parsons and 4th year Dak was out. Everyone expected us to be a playoff team last year with Parsons. However marginal that was.

So until our defense had that limited ability , enough to aid us returning to playoffs, then I’ll argue we haven’t recovered. At least not yet. I think that’s fair.

I’m not ruling out we might recover at some point in seasons to come. If of course Jethro makes better decisions. Who knows if this season collapses we might be starting all over again next year. Time will tell. So far I’d argue we have failed to rebound, recover , however you want to describe it.

Micah is elite.

Terrible trade.

Micah is elite.

Terrible trade.
Until he isn’t. That would be in big games and the end of the season. Elite means you play your best games when they count the most, like in the playoffs or at the end of the season when trying to win the division or get into the playoffs.

I think it's Jerry's bad GMing that we haven't recovered from, not the Parsons trade. This D was headed sharply downhill before the Parsons trade. Just too many wasted high draft picks. That should be the core of our team. Instead, we're trading for high priced FAs.

Elite is a subjective description. And some of the greatest players aren’t on playoff caliber teams .

Parsons was a perineal All Pro on a HOF path at time of trade and why he delivered 2 1st round picks.

I’d argue most would describe that as an Elite talent or at least top of the line. For me Elite is HOF caliber talent. Or as he was often described as generational talent.

Perhaps we need to define Elite as some only use to describe those who play for or win championships .

It’s jsut a mess overall bc they’re trading people around at not a position of strength and they’re acquiring players at points in their careers with coaching changes etc.

Value wise they didn’t crush it on the return for Micah but this guy Malachi Lawrence could be great

Honestly I don’t think our opinion of him is too far apart. I do think he’s great, just not elite. However, I think if he had stayed at LB, he would have been truly elite.

I don’t consider playoffs or championships to determine eliteness. Just the play of the field. The one thing however, that can be considered are the players around you.

LOL at the coping while we have the worst D in football (again).

Trade was a DISASTER then and it's a DISASTER now.

HOF-level pass rushers get paid for a reason. They matter.

Imagine adding some inside linebackers of quality to that....
