I have watched alot of Qb player over the years and personally even though he was far from perfect I saw great upside with Milton in the preseason... I'm out on Dak because I have seen enough of his deer in the headlights and his inability to have what I consider Elite Qb composer... Having said that, If Milton does indeed get chance with Philly and does great, I believe that may be the total nail in the coffin for me as a fan. Each and every year my enthusiasm lessens.

If you were like me and liked what you saw from Milton and wanted to see him get a real chance, how would you feel if Milton became a star in Philly? Hypothetically that is??? I would be happy for Joe quite honestly, but I'm sure Jerrah would spin it on how much he loves him some Dak and happy for Milton,

I agree. With what we saw in the preseason I am still shocked we let him go. If he plays well for the Eagles that will be a very bitter pill to swallow. I still don’t understand why you would let a QB with potential go. Unless he can’t read a defense. But I’m still disillusioned with this move. I was advocating for him to be signed on the roster and be the emergency QB. Cut Schoon to make room for him.

We’ll see how this plays out.
Great posts.

We have some players on the roster that don´t deserve a roster spot - and we let Joe Milton go. A QB with potential. And then your head coach (Schottenheimer) tells you: "I think the world of Joe." You get the feeling they don´t know what they are doing. I´m gonna root for Joe and hope it will blow up in their face (just mad and sad).

Good is maybe not the right word, I'm saying that if Joe goes over to the eagles and kicks butt what does that do to our fanbase or our confidence in our evaluators? I'm saying that I believe lots of lots of peeps would be livid if Joe goes on to show something great... I believe he will, but that is me..
The haters here will always find something to complain about so I wouldn’t worry about them. I mean they’re haters. They deserve their misery.

Interesting thought. I'd have to separate into two facets.

1. If he only played as little as he did in preseason, still late in the draft.
2. If he played all season that way, then 2nd or 3rd, most likely.

To be clear, to get my evaluations I read a ton from what experts say, and then extrapolate that info to attempt a reasonably logical conclusion.

In this case, Milton showed to be a good playmaker, but we already knew that. However, to be a good starting QB you must go through progressions and you must have the ability to see and interpret the entire field. It's a very strange ability, because a QB has nanoseconds to go through all this. You can't just be smart, you must be fast/smart.

Milton did play very well, of that there is no doubt. However, I didn't observe him going through progressions. His first read was mostly open. So, why were they open? Because in the preseason you mostly have DBs who can't mirror a WR.

So, you're not just watching for completed passes, you're analyzing why the pass was completed and then trying to evaluate whether that same pass would've been good against NFL talent.

That's why you see so many backup/young QBs look good in preseason. Poor coverage.
I appreciate the thoughtful write-up! That's a great point about the ability to go through progressions. Just to play devil's advocate (again), wasn't the only knock on Mahomes coming out of college from Texas Tech that experts didn't know if he'd be able to go through multiple progressions?

I don’t even know how this dude can get the offense this quickly. It took him an entire year here to get it
Maybe he’s much more intuitive than the cowboys thought.
Can’t trust the cowboys when evaluating players ability.
Just saying.

No, it's an emergency situation for Philly. Hurts is out for a month. They have to have somebody if McKee gets hurt. Nothing more.

He's not even active today.

He'll be inactive for the 4 week mandatory period he's on the roster
and then cut!
This season and maybe next on practice squads and it's off to Canada!

You don't know if he will cut, that is a ludicrous statement..

If you're saying Milton is better than Dak I can't help you. Just to say there have been big arms QB's that didn't make it. He did improve but was lacking something. Coaches watched him a year and half and didn't fight to keep him

I agree, but I'm thinking within the organization mostly.. I can't imagine how stupid Shotty will feel if somehow Milton ends up being a stud with Eagles... I'm speaking with emotion as well when I say I would be pissed, and the reason being is because I do indeed see some great upside with Milton, but time will tell..

This is exactly the post I was looking for.. I was needing some company in my misery.. You and I are feeling the same.. I too and honestly hoping Joe goes in a kicks butt for the eagles, I'm sorry I do, that is how much I dislike Jerry and Shotty so far as a head coach..

So our coaches would still be here, Gm isn't changing and you want to trade away our only hope? Lmao. Then you double down and want those same coaches and GM to do a rebuild. Just sit this one out dude seriously.
You're still missing the point. We have no control over any of it.. You're trying to tell me that we have hope as long as prescott is still here? That ship has sailed man, he can't handle pressure, he has proved it, and not worth the money we're paying.. I don't care about the Stats Prescott numbers... What I'm saying is, we're not doing anything this year anyway even with stats prescott.. Why not see what a young hungry qb can do? You're talking like we have a chance to do something this year and that is ubiquitously dumb in my opinion.. We aren't doing anything with our defense and coaching..

Okay. THAT...was not your point though...not in the comment I replied to.
My original question was how would people feel if Milton ended up being a stud for Philly??? I don't care about your opinion on how much better Dak is than Milton, or how we only have chance with Dak in the building..

It's business. He showed nothing here. It wouldn't bother me at all. Players move around from all teams and become better. How do you think Philadelphia got that zach Baun kid?.

Why do you think Malik Collins is on his 4th team? It might have been his 5th team after he left the Cowboys and now he's playing great. This is just how it rolls. If they're not good, why they're here? There's no reason to take up a roster spot. And I would understand if they did because he has potential, but you cannot take up roster spots for potential, especially when you have historically. Bad injuries to one part of your team. They're already running out of IR call UPS already..

They couldn't carry three quarterbacks. And they felt like Sam if needed. For long, relief would be a better option. Right now. It happens. What do you think about Sam Darnold winning a Super Bowl? So five teams. Those fans should just be triggered and upset they let go of Sam? Or was Sam just not playing well? And that's why he got released.?

Think deeply. There are many. Resurrected careers by lots of guys, especially with quarterbacks. But others they they leave teams, they get on A 3rd or 4th team and all of a sudden they're playing well...

So given the fact that it's a business and we understand the business, no, it would not trigger me. I mean, of all teams, I wouldn't want him to be good with the Eagles. What the percentage is astronomical? I believe it was Dallas or whoever said it. Here, just a few spaces up, it's a 1% chance. I'll give it 5%...

But better players than him have been released or traded like Kyle Murray. And TUA? And they play pretty good games here and there. Their team should be more triggered because he released the people that took up draft picks and a ton of money and dead cat money, and yet when they go and have a good game somewhere else, it's you just have to live with it...
Thanks for answering my question... You wouldn't be bothered if Milton became a star in Philly.. Me personally, I hope Milton does become a stud in philly..
