Time to sell

I know Jerry doesn't have the foresight to do this, but I think the time has come to punt on this season. We're 2-4. While the D did look like they're getting better this season so far, I think it's time to start trading pieces away. It's time to sell. The trade deadline is coming in a few weeks, and we only have 4 draft picks in 2027. We could use all the draft picks we can get, in part to draft a new QB to get ready to replace Dak in 2028.

I think the first move is to trade Pickens. I watched the Raiders Bills game on TV. They have a solid offense, especially with Tre Tucker. But they don't really have a WR who can stretch the field. I could see them giving us at least a 2nd and maybe an extra late round pick. We aren't using Pickens. He's on a franchise tag, and we aren't keeping him after this season. So, might as well move him and take what we can get.

Trade Bland. I know we won't get much for him, especially with his contract. But frankly, if we can get a 6 for him, I'd take it and run. Again, we need draft picks.

I'd try to trade Overshown. He's made of glass, but he does make decent plays when healthy. Might fetch us a 6th. I'd also look at trading Ferguson.


I'm aware, outside of Pickens, the players I've suggested to trade away would probably only get us late round picks. But, look at this team. We need all the picks we can get. We need to basically start over. I'd probably keep Lamb. Mainly so that the next QB has a top WR to throw to. But, otherwise, imo, everyone should be on the trade block to trade away. Time to punt. We aren't making the playoffs, and we are over budget. And we probably aren't making the playoffs next year either. Might as well rip the bandaid off and trade away what we can and get what picks we can get.

Might be able to get more than that for him. I could see the Raiders giving us a 2nd or better for him. They need someone to stretch the field. They have a QB on a rookie contract. They can afford to gamble on a WR. And Pickens and Tucker would be lethal for them. So, why not see what they'd give us? They'll probably be buying, and I'd trade Pickens now.

Which is why we won't go anywhere anytime soon. This is the perfect time to sell. Yes, the division is bad, but, sometimes, it has to happen. And we have 4 picks. We need to try to get what we can and get ready for Dak's replacement.
