Should have never been paid after the green bay game. Just driving the nails deeper into the coffin. Cant pay a quarterback elite contract money when they aren't elite / game changers

But as much as its fun to point fingers they all should be pointing at Jerry and Stephen
Bottom line : how do you watch that playoff game and go, "ok I've seen enough. This is the best quarterback in the league and I'm going to pay him as such. I'm sold." ?

Schotty calls the play how it should happen without the training wheels. The one time Schotty put the training wheels on, Dak throws a potentially game winning TD away. An 11 year vet, can't still possibly need training wheels.

Exactly, and especially one that is touted as an elite QB. And I DO think he's been a good QB. But he's been PATHETIC. And he has these years from time to time where he is bad. 2017 was bad, 2020 was pathetic before his injury, and this is another one. He's so inconsistent season to season, and we actually have a D that's getting better. I can't fault the D, or at least put nearly the amount of blame on them that some would. They held Green Bay to 10 in the first half, and Tampa to 7 (should have been 0). They gave Dak a pick in the first quarter, and he wasted it with a pick of his own. They have a hard enough job trying to get to an average level as it is without having to try to provide scoring support since Dak can't score too. That's not fair to our D by our $60 Mil QB.

I definitely agree but we are stuck.with him for a few more years.

Not necessarily imo. I think we could June 1 him after the 2027 season and be okay. The Broncos got rid of Russell Wilson's contract and ended up being fine. They were a game away from the SB (despite Nix getting hurt). It's not exactly impossible.
This organization doesn’t have the you know what to do that. I genuinely thought Love and Dak are about even. Today cemented that Love is simply better. DAk is not a top 10 quarterback.

Then that's better than what I thought.

It'd still suck from a cap perspective.....buuuut we'd have a QB on a rookie deal for a few years (even after sitting a year behind Dak to learn), so it wouldn't be all that bad imo. The question is will Jerry have the guts to do it. Frankly, with how bad the contract negotiations were the last two times, he SHOULD draft a QB.

I would have moved on after the 2023 season. That’s when it became evident to me he’s simply not good enough.

I would agree, and maybe we'd still have Parsons. At this point though, he's reminding me of 2020 Dak before he got hurt, and he's my age (33). He's SUPPOSED to be at the prime of his career or just on the other side. He's clearly regressing now. And, imo, it's time to get a QB in the building to sit for a year behind him, and then follow the Broncos (and Chiefs with Alex Smith) playbook after 2027.

Its now clear as day that it was a bad decision to not move on from him after 2024. The cascading events that occurred have set this franchise back at least 5 years.

9/8/24: Dak signs 4 year contract extension through 2029

1/24/25: Cowboys hire Brian Schottenheimer mostly because the QB campaigned for it and the reluctance to change systems for a 9 year vet

1/28/25: Cowboys hire Matt Eberflus to be DC which lead to one of the worst defenses to ever play for this franchise

7-9-1 season

1/22/2026: Schottenheimer hand picks Christian Parker. A 34 year old passing game coordinator that never called a defense on any level and was tasked with transforming the worst D in franchise history.

We were better off letting Dak play out the 2024 season and letting him go (or trade) and start a true rebuild. These losses and performances would be a lot more palatable if there wasnt this fantasy that this was a team in win-now mode.

One of the Woat decisions in the jerry jones era
Jerry’s business model is to stay relevant .
No way is he ever gonna do an obvious rebuild, especially at his age,

Trust me, I don't want that either. But you KNOW how Jerry is. And he's probably going to get one more franchise QB before he takes the eternal elevator. I'd LIKE the QB from Kentucky or BYU. But I think we all know where Jerry will go with this and think it's a great deal.
My cousin in California, told me about the BYU QB, he played with his son in high school. Checked him out last night against ND.

It's not like there's awesomeness awaiting us from moving on from Dak. He's out best shot at another Lombardi, that's not saying much though.

I feel bad for these young fans that all go crazy backing up and rooting for Dak. The older fans know what a championship QB is. It’s evident Dak is a guy that may keep the team relevant that’s about it.

As a younger fan, I do like Dak, but I'm seeing a lot of parralels with Russell Wilson, and not the good kind right now....luckily, we might be able to get a RW solution if Jerry's smart. But, I want to be clear that I'd like someone like the BYU QB, the Notre Dame QB, the one from Kentucky, or a few other options. Please NOT Archie. I know Jerry will want to draft him because of the last name if he wants a QB, and that's the 1 QB (besides Marcel Reed from Texas A&M) I DON'T want.
