Blow. It. Up

Agreed. Every trade Jerry has made the last 3-4 years has been moronic. And yes that includes Pickens. He should have been stockpiling picks and planning for life after Dak. Actually Dak shouldn't even be on the team, but that stupid extension happened so we have to deal with it
You are forgetting one important detail -

For jerry - there probably isnt life after dak

This is it, hes not going be alive much longer

Where are the threads about how much of a national treasure Dak Prescott is and aren’t we fans so lucky?

They are waiting on the team facing the other upcoming terrible teams to start yapping. Then getting trounced by the best teams late in the season (which is by design-the league tries to avoid Dallas having a really difficult opening schedule).

That is literally the problem here fellow fans. The team just got exposed by a fringe playoff squad (that has SEVERAL key injuries). The team is run by a guy that will NOT fold his hand. No matter the stakes because it does NOT matter to him if the Cowboys have zero hope to be a true contender. He just wants them in the playoffs because it’s best for sales/marketing.

Time to start over was after 2019. Dak is NOT the problem, but building around him as the centerpiece is Jerruh marketing heaven through and through. I was most fearful of that being their decision making process when he was on his rookie contract. I saw him as a useful cog if the rest of the team was elite. Not a centerpiece-which is how they have structured the team ever since.

That’s what I mean Dak fans. The BUILDING of the team around Dak. That’s THE problem. Not him. Yes-goes back to Jerry. I don’t think Jerry cares too much because of the cash they have made off of it. Now plenty of the fans are calling for firing of Schotty. He is not very good, but come on guys-this team is so far from competing at the highest level. It’s so apparent. Blow the thing up. Trade Pickens and anyone 28 and older if you get good value. Act now and start the rebuild ASAP. Eagles have already begun
I'm okay with this post. I've said the ceiling for Dak is Russell Wilson...and those teams won with good coaching, great defense and solid running game Jerry did not build that because it's "boring", a good coach would get too much credit and have too much control..and building that would take someone that knew what Dak was and what he wasn't. Jerry preferred to light up the scoreboard...and Daks numbers dictated his market value ..so this is what you get folks. Heck Jerry said it himself when parcells was here...he wasn't having any fun...but that is the kind of coach you need to win with Dak

I wouldn't do anything until I first get rid of Schottenheimer and Parker. All you have to do is watch the games to seen how an NFL coach has his team prepared with a good game plan against Dallas while Schottenheimer puts garbage on the field.

I never understand these threads.

Every year. Same thread.

It simply won't happen. Might as well wish for the sun to rise in the west.
I never said it would happen. Do we only spend time on things that could happen with the current squad? Never mention Super Bowl as a possibility then. Or the NFCCG for that matter.

Yet every year-the same hopeful threads appear multiple times.

Schottenheimer absolutely has earned his walking papers.

We have way too many players who have regressed. You dont get a team full of under performers with good coaching.

That said, I agree. Its past time to blow this up and start over. The days of 12-4 are long behind us. Our qb is old. We need a fresh start, same as we did in 2016.

Yeah. The moves in the past 12 months have been about trying to win with Dak. They never mortgaged the future to this level with Romo. Everything has been pulled to try to win with Dak now-not later. He and his bobblehead kid have quintupled down on their bet and will not fold (even though it would be for the best). I can smell more future draft capital burning a hole in Jerry’s pocket. What say you to a medium improvement defensive end purchase for high picks in years in the future that evidently no one cares about-until the bill in the future comes due? The biggest issue is the rebuild that will be eventually done has already been castrated. Delays any hope of a true turnaround.

That's the issue. Jerry and his clown circus front office doesn't know how to actually build a team. They use it as their own personal Madden and fantasy football team. Everything they do is trying for the big splash for headlines. Even if they stockpiled the picks, would we have actually hit on them? This front office can't draft

Again, I've said this before, Dallas will be mediocre or poor until Jerry Jone's dies. He is the problem - his ego will not let him bring real football management in to run the team. Jerry has always been the smartest person in the room. This franchise is a train wreck with no hope. Rebuilding is not the problem - Jerry is the problem!
I'll add to that by saying Jerry and his fat son are too rich and too lazy to put in the WORK it would take to endure a rebuild. A fire sale should begin today. Virtually every tradeable asset on this team needs to be traded for draft picks. But that is hard work for a couple of whiskey soaked billionaires

See if the Jets are willing to give us our 1st rounder back and something for Dak.

We need picks and to clear the cap for an actual GM and personnel department.

There's really nothing to hold onto when you're going to fork out another losing season. This team is what it is.

Furthermore, you can see teams know where we're going with the ball offensively and defensively the results speak for themself on that side of the ball.

The players practice in a circus. There's literally no secrecy in the players preparation before game days.

This team has been patching up patchwork for years. At some point, you have to realize this raggedy-*** cloak can't be patched anymore; throw it out and buy a new one.

Dak absolutely IS part of the problem.

He's one of the highest-paid players in the NFL. To justify that kind of money, a quarterback needs elite field vision, spatial awareness, processing speed, and anticipation. Dak is mediocre at best in those areas.

You can't pay a quarterback as though he's one of the best in the game while expecting to surround him with elite talent to compensate for his shortcomings

We are paying for an elite quarterback but still expecting to build an elite team around him to make him successful. The salary cap doesn't work that way.

If we lose to the Eagles sure. We really, really need a top 30 end.

It’s past due. Honestly it still goes back to after the 2023 GB loss…right there was either a blow it up or go all in moment.

Schottenheimer was the change the culture HC, yet he was already here….why would we ever expect a culture change by keeping the same core group of players and promoting a coach that was already on the previous staff?

I know odds are low due to Jerry’s age but this team needs a significant shake up. I’d give Schotty the rest of the season to show some life, but if we end up an 8 win team the staff gets gutted and every player on the roster gets evaluated. No one should be safe and I’d be 100% in on fixing the defense. I don’t care if you lose a Dak, lamb, or Booker to make it happen.
In fairness to Schotty, I do think he tried to change the culture. That said, your point remains valid.

And yes... 2023 was the sign to blow it up.

This reminded me of another Green Bay game-- the one that got Wade fired. The score wasn't as ugly, but the effort was basically the same.

The Eagles (who are actively tanking) should not be the measuring stick. SF and Seattle (as long as they remain relatively healthy) should be the better measure. Does the team want to actually contend or are they okay with being pretenders? Jerry is absolutely okay with pretending-but bring your wallet.
