Dak looked like he had never seen a blitz before

You can say it all you want but it isn't right. It confuses EVERY QB because there is no pre-snap tell. That's what it is designed to do. There are no keys as to who is or isn't blitzing. When your offensive gameplan has 0 quick game to beat the blitz, the QB has no chance. Most teams don't have it.

Dak is guilty of trusting his pre-snap reads too often, but the idea that he can't process is stupid.
The major flaw in your impressive attempt at explaining away reality is that when the defense bluffs the blitz and drops back at the snap Prescott is still confused. No blitz so no quick game necessary in those moments.

If that defensive strategy worked as well on every QB as you pretend it does here, every team would crowd the line and show a jailbreak blitz on every play because, "the QB would have no chance".

Find it ironic that you all watch the game. The last two games they've been blitzing at a higher rate. The offensive line's not picking it up, but there are no hot routes. Nothing that's actual normal for the receivers to make sure they also are reading there's a blitz and that they have to cut off a route. Going hot. Do you understand what that means? They were even mentioning it on the broadcast that it looks like the actual offensive coordinator. Or whoever's in charge of making sure that when there is a blitz that the offensive line calls the blitz, that there's a hot route, that the quarterback and receivers are all on the same page. And they aren't. As a matter of fact, the receivers are really not getting open. They're falling down. They're creating interceptions. I'm talking about the ones last week and the one this week. I know the other ones on DAC after he got hit in the ribs because nobody's blocking. There is always one person coming completely free and you're blaming that on the quarterback. I really don't get this. I wasn't going to come on here today, but I had to see this and tell you if you're reading this, you don't know ball, you're a casual. If you don't realize that, it's the entire offense. That are not seemingly figuring out what they're supposed to do when there's a blitz called or somebody's not making the call. Usually that's the center or somebody on the offensive line calling out blitz. Yes, the quarterback's supposed to recognize it, but he has to have somewhere to go with the ball. That's short, shorter routes. And no, not behind the line of scrimmage, not right at the line of scrimmage. Some actual real routes like, I don't know, many really short. In route. Something turn around, a quick hit. You gotta go help your quarterback, and they're not doing it for two weeks straight now. And you're blaming the quarterback. He knows what a blitz looks like. He can't make the offensive line in the receivers and the running backs understand their assignments....
This is 100% correct. The only variable I don't know is how much of this is on Dak to audible/communicate vs. the whole team being so woefully underprepared and outcoached that it doesn't matter. What I continue to really not understand is how the o-line is so much worse after Smith came back, and how they adjusted well to the blitz against Houston and then have fallen on their face the past 2 games. Makes no sense.

It's astounding the amount of people who get mad and just go "DAK BAD, IT HIM FAULT HE MAKE TOO MUCH MONEY" and not realize how bad our coaching has been. Dak has plenty of blame for some playoff losses and other losses over his career but this year we are just being brutally out coached.

Well, the Cooper did win games here, so what does that tell you of dak. Does that help?
It tells me Cooper would be a warm welcome for you. that's all. I tossed out Justin too.....paid & winless, but I suspect that wouldn't matter. Am I spot on or what? Just slinging out options to help. Would be good for all parties. Question: Is there a specific QB, with the current status quo attached to this team........you would prefer or like? Who?

So now we're down to blaming the offensive line for not providing perfect protection for a guy who panics and chokes with pressure. How many teams have perfect offensive lines? How many number 1 guys do we need on the line? Should spann ford just line up beside Chicken Legs, or do we need two guys beside him? You know we ain't running the ball because, kill, kill, kill guy isn't letting that happen.

The word is out now.
If you pressure Dak he panics. If the game gets too big he panics.
Over the last ten years Dak has let the Cowboys down EVERY time they needed him to be the reason they were better.
Now the secret is known, and his struggles are just beginning.
This, other teams would blitz every now and then but TB set in motion, we’re coming a lot not just every now and then. GB saw the outcome between the OL not being able to block and the QB deer in high beam headlights and expecting every DC to use this approach going forward. They see and know the outcome of what’s going to happen.

Who expects perfection? Schotty just spoke on "we're not executing". In the words of the late John McVay (former coach to expansion TB).....when asked about his team’s execution: “I’m in favor of it.” Perfection isn't necessary or realistic.......I'd suggest looking at the film or breakdowns. And come on back as I'm easily suspecting you only view Dak and no one else, for the most part. Tunnel vision?

Yes because that is what the defense is designed to do - it confuses every quarterback. There is no tell as to whether blitzers are coming or not.

The good defenses do that. Most don't have personnel to be effective. Double mug looks have killed opposing offenses for a long time.

And you need to go review the game; you seem to blame everyone but dak. hum. The guys are getting sick of him; the effort will get worse. Then we can blame them more. You might have been celebrating those bogus ruffing the QB calls. If his tampoons hadn't fallen out of his lady purse, they probably wouldn't have been called.

So when professional athletes mention killer instinct you tell them it's made up? That's interesting
It is made up. Means absolutely nothing on game day. It's as meaningful as snake oil.

Fans like it because they are afraid of things like data.

Nobody has a killer instinct until they do. Elway, Manning, Stafford...none of these guys had one until all of a sudden they did.

Dak clearly had a bad game, and Schotty had no answers in his playcalling, but I will also point out that the OL was awful. Rule #1 for all OL is when they blitz more than you can block, you always block the inside guys first and the QB and hot receivers account for the free guy on the outside who takes longer to get home. Both tackles and the inside guys repeatedly allowed free runners up the middle.

Also, Pickens has zero value vs the blitz. He should be the king of beating the blitz with his slants, but he never adjusts. When the QB is in scramble drill, Pickens just quits on the play instead of making himself available. Twice last night the announcer wondered what Pickens was doing as Dak looked to him, wanting to go there, only to see that Pickens was just standing around. With his contested catch ability, Pickens is the guy who should be most excited during the scramble drill.

Dropped passes, poor blocking, tons of penalties, and a horrendous defense that only avoided a 40 burger because GB receivers dropped passes in the endzone, along with an experienced DC in Gannon who went all out to show Dallas they chose the wrong guy……that’s a perfect storm for embarrassment by a crappy team (Cowboys), and none of that excuses the QB for bad decisions and a poor game.

The Dallas Cowboys are clearly lacking talent, but they are horrible at the fundamentals.

So basically you're like skip Bayless. Telling professional athletes what's true and what's not even though you couldn't even make a jv team in high school. I gotcha

These blitzes have an element of confusion as well. They are crowding the line of scrimmage and either coming and dropping everyone.

Tampa didn’t exact same thing all game. So yes Green Bay was going to copy it.

It’s up to Dak and whoever is running the offense to counter it

Ultimately, it's a leadership issue at the top and it flows down. Dak is plenty good enough, but he's not a player that can elevate the rest of the team let alone the offense. There are not a lot of QBs around that can do that let alone do it year in and year out (Mahomes last year). It all looks like a serious coaching issue on both sides of the ball mixed in with some players that are just plain bad (defense in particular). How can a team not be prepared for blitzing? We've seen these same blitzes in years past and they were handled by receivers running the correct route or plays designed to thwart them. Somehow it's all gone away. When there is a breakdown in the leadership, the player that will always look the worst is the QB given that the game is so QB centric.

And good QB's who don't panic and are capable of reading and reacting in the moment are much better able to counterattack then weak minded, slow processing, slow reacting QB's are.

he can't do it. I think of him as a Trent Dilfer, but with better stats. Put Dak on a team with a Baltimore Defense when they won and we'd be thinking HoF for Dak.
He has to have the perfect offensive line, the best running back, the best receivers, and a defense that keeps the opponents from scoring. Yep, get that yellow jacket out for him.
