My emotional investment

I’ve been a Cowboys fan since I was a kid.

Inherited it from my dad. Growing up in Toronto, they were basically the only team on TV besides Buffalo. I even loved the cheerleaders as a four-year-old boy

I watched that team destroy everyone for what felt like forever. Carried that fire in my belly for years.

Jerry Jones slowly took that from me.
And I will never forgive him for it.

What used to be a proud, dominant franchise has become a laughing stock, largely because of one man’s ego and his complete inability to admit when something isn’t working.

The Green Bay debacle in the playoffs and the total lack of real action afterward sealed it for me.

I’ve been called a hater. Told I’m not a real fan. Told to find a new team.
All because I’m no longer emotionally invested the way I used to be.

I still watch. I still cheer. I still hate losing.
But the fire isn’t there anymore.

And honestly… that’s healthier. At least for me.

Anyone else feel what I am saying?
I feel exactly like you. Pretty much word for word. Great post

I stopped watching the games since 2024.

I see some part of it if they are actually competing, but if not I turn it off. Then i just check the scores and read here about the game.

Since then, i enjoy my sundays, its so much better!

100% It’s been a long time of dealing with one man’s ego who has single handily made this franchise a joke. What do we have to look forward to?? That’s why the passion goes away. What’s to be passionate it about? The next time they release what the Cowboys franchise is worth? Jerrah and his family are the only people getting any satisfaction out of the Dallas Cowboys while a large fan base just twists in the wind with nothing to look forward to.

No point in blowing anything up if Jerry and his kid are doing the rebuild.

They really don’t know how to build or run a roster, or manage it along the way.

They just collect players. Try to get a lot of really good ones this way the inferior coaching won’t matter. Doesn’t matter if they are a fit or not. Jones football.
Prolly only a couple more years of JJ. We can only hope his spawn does things differently. We can get a head start on getting a new team assembled, OR we can stand pat and continue to suck like only we can suck. I would rather just move on and start the process sooner rather than later.
I’ve been a fan for 50 years. I live in NC and I have despised the Panthers for knocking the Cowboys out of the playoffs years ago. I now however am starting to warm to the Panthers as they atleast are a decently ran organization.

Can't blow it up as long as Jerry is in charge.
What do you think will happen?

Same puppet coaches.
Same non participation in FA, other than 1 year contract type of guys.
Over paid players based on potential and one decent to great year,
Drafting injured players based on potential. That they got a steal.
Trading away draft picks to move up and be told we got a bargain and a steal as they were ranked higher. And some of them are coming off an injury as well.

Did I miss anything?

Oh, and Rowdy will still be around.

The only thing consistent with this team besides the FO's ineptitude.
Is the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders always looking great.
Get started now. JJ won’t be around much longer.

He is so far away from doing that it’s not even worth considering. I get how you feel, but trading for all of these players was about Jerry getting old.

If they did this when MM and Quinn were here they may have gone a little further. Those guys weren’t the greatest, but probably the best we were ever going to do….and they were a few players short due to the cheapness of the front office and not wanting to mortgage the future. THIS, right now, is that very same future they were trying to protect btw.

No clue.

I stopped watching after the 1st qtr. You can tell within the first 5 drives how the game is going to go. It's not worth my time. I told my company I cant go to Playa del Carmen because we were going to Seattle for the game. Now, I told them I can go, so Im going to Mexico instead. Lol. Free vs spending money to watch #4 EMBARRASING get the deer in the headlights look.

Yeah, my wife is friends with JSN'S mom, so we would have been in a suite more than likely.

Absolutely. I don't see how anyone could be a Cowboys fan and not feel this way. Anyone who still has enthusiasm and Hope at this point is basically the equivalent of the battered wife on COPS who refuses to press charges

When I was a young Cowboys fan, I used to wonder how Lions and Saints fans could possibly root for their teams year after year despite their horrible play.

Now I understand.

.We are in a unique position as Cowboys fans because everything is always hyped up to the point we all buy in to some extent

With all due respect, this simply is not true. There are a good number of contributors on this forum who do not buy in to the offseason hype. Many times they are vilified for it but it needs to be emphatically said that a sizable number of our fan base has figured out the game and does not keep falling for it

Other than that I found myself nodding in agreement at most of your post

I was one of them.
