Mavs interested in Rondo

That would be a MASSIVE coup for the mavs! I haven't looked at the numbers, but the mavs would have to give up the matrix and Vince as expiring contracts and take back bad contracts (most notably Gerald Wallace) to even get a nibble from the celtics. I think they'll move quickly to explore this option once the Dwight situation is settled, one way or another

I would be ecstatic if the Mavs got Rondo and Dwight. Even one or the other would be awesome.

I don't really see any way the Mav's can get them both but maybe, I am not familiar enough with the money situation in Dallas.

This would really tough to pull off cap-wise. If they somehow managed to get Howard this year, then they could easily take on Rondo next year. But 2013, though not completely impossible, is very highly improbable.
That would be an outstanding threesome though. Really nice mix.

Can't be done until Dirk takes a paycut next year

Problem is then they have to make Dwight take less money which isn't going to happen.

Dwight is already going to take less money by not staying in L.A.. The Lakers can offer him more than any other team.

The more I hear about Rondo being traded, the more I think about why the Celtics are doing this.

It might be the injury but it could be that last year he played great basketball that he might not be that same player next year coming off an injury and 2 less starters.

With me, I am not to sure about Rondo's game yet. Were the Celtics holding him back by forcing him to play their system or was his numbers great because he was playing alongside 3 future HOF for most of his all-star years? I guess the Celtics feel it was the system.

I just think the Celtics are trying to free up cap for another FA run. They know you need three stars to make a run at it and I think they feel like that's where they want to be. Rondo is a guy who doesn't get along with everybody and if you bring in a new HC, probably a guy who is not marquee, then it might be easier to not have Rondo there. He's the one big contract and one asset that can bring trade value. I'm sure that's probably some of it.

Boston wont be players in FA. Theyre going to build thru youth. Management as said they expect to be in a 2-3 yr building process. They probably will be going after a young assistant type coach too. They have some young pieces in place already with alot of upside. Avery Bradley, Jared Sullinger, Jeff Green.

Bradley is one of the best defenders in the NBA.
Sullinger isnt the most athletic PF but the guy plays smart and gets the job done. I see the celtics drafting a star PF next yr when they have 2 1's.
Jeff Green IMO is going to be the star they want in BOS. He was up and down in the reg season but showed what he could do in the playoffs.

Then they have Fab Melo i like how theyre grooming him in the Dleague. He will be in BOS next yr.
They just drafted Kelly Olynyx center from Gonzaga. He's like Sullinger, not flashy but he just has a very high basketball IQ.

The trade brought them Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, Keith Bogans, Reggie Evans. None of these players will be part of the future. Wallace IMO will be moved with Rondo to the Mavs if they make a trade. And some team will want Homphries expiring contract.

C's will be cellar dwellers for a couple seasons. But it had to happen. Next yr is going to be a big draft for the NBA

Next season is going to have a great lottery. Celtics are going in rebuild mode and have no cares about tanking. He's already going to miss about half a season so might as well tank hard for Wiggins or Parker.

No way I believe this. Right now, Boston is cutting Cap at break neck speed. You don't do that unless you are planning on signing guys.

They arent cutting cap. In the NBA you cant cut cap. Trades have to have equal value in terms of dollars for that particular yr. Trading Gerald Wallace will free Boston in future yrs but they will have to take on one of Dallas big contracts probably an expiring contract or a couple of them to make the Money work. You dont have to buy this. Danny ainge has already come out and said they are going to rebuild for the long haul. Not a quick fix.
