Next season is going to have a great lottery. Celtics are going in rebuild mode and have no cares about tanking. He's already going to miss about half a season so might as well tank hard for Wiggins or Parker.

Boston is going to have something like 7 first round picks from now until 2017 something like that. Id be suprised if Wiggins isnt a Celtic next yr. Wiggins has the height to play SF, but his body looks like a SG. He'd be dominant there. He's 6'7 205, picture Kobe bryant. He's 6'6 205. Wiggins will build on his body but not too much. 6'7 215 he'd be a beast as a sg with his skills

They arent cutting cap. In the NBA you cant cut cap. Trades have to have equal value in terms of dollars for that particular yr. Trading Gerald Wallace will free Boston in future yrs but they will have to take on one of Dallas big contracts probably an expiring contract or a couple of them to make the Money work. You dont have to buy this. Danny ainge has already come out and said they are going to rebuild for the long haul. Not a quick fix.

Right, that's why Danny Ainge called inquiring after Dwight Howard as early as yesterday right?

Yeah it was reported as a courtesy call. To see if there was any shot. Who wouldnt? He's the top Fa on the market. DH people said no.

Now he's a quote on whats reported
But like any front office decision-maker should, Ainge checked just to make sure.

Seems like youre reaching

This is kind of my point. If the answer that came back from Howard's camp, would have been positive, Ainge and Boston would have been right back in the FA business. I mean, I don't disagree with what you said here but I think it would be Foolish to think that Boston will not be involved in FA. If the right players are available and interested, Ainge will try to bring them to Boston and next year's FA crop will be about as good as we've seen in the last 10 years.

Boston is in full on tank mode.
So are about 5 other teams.
The 2014 draft is the best in a decade.
Any of the top 5/6 guys would have been number 1 this year.

Boston isnt signing anyone this year but they do want to get the cap space to go for big fish in 2014 after they draft a stud to build around.

Boston isn't bad enough to get Wiggins next year unless they deal Rondo for a talent-less return.
Raptors are far worse and very motivated to get Canada's best ever prospect.

Dallas is right to kick tires on Rondo but is a long shot for now.
We wont know more until the DH shoe drops.

Im just saying what's already been said by Ainge. He did a interview with the Boston Herald and said what you see now will most likely be what you get this season. I understand Fa is a big part of the nba. Now if they can get Wiggins next yr in the draft then Im sure they will go out and get more in FA. Get a guy or 2 to team with Wiggins. But if they cant then I see them building thru the many draft picks they'll have. They could end up keeping their own draft pick which will be top 5 and trade more picks along with that extra 1 next yr and move in and scoop up another top 10 pick. Historically Boston hasnt gone the Fa route. The planets lined up perfectly one time and they got Ray Allen and KG. KG was the original target but he didnt want to go to Boston, but Ainge was able to get Ray Allen and KG wanted back in.

Barring any big FA opportunities this year, I agree. However, after this year, they will have effectively tanked and will get whatever draft pick they get. The question is not this year. The question is really next year's FA class, as I said earlier. There are a ton of high value FA's next year. I believe the Celtics will be involved in a lot of those discussions. At this point, Ainge would be foolish to comment on any of the future plans for Boston. I mean, what's he going to say? "We tanked this year so we can get Wiggins and next year, we are going after all high profile FAs."

Boston has always gone after guys that they thought fit their style of Basketball. I can't see them changing that. I guess we'll see.

It's a pretty stupid strategy to plan your offseason around 1 or 2 FS and strike out over and over again. Better to draft smart then trying to rely on anything other then 2nd rate FAs choosing you over others. Reality is no one will ever chose you unless you have a young superstar in his prime already so the Mavs will keep striking out every year until they get lucky and draft one

What makes this so frustrating is we had a really good team, had we kept Chandler we would probably still be good

Don't see how you can say that. Unless they win the NBA lottery, they are not getting Wiggins. You can't trade your way to the top pick when in the year of that draft when every knows a franchise player like that is sitting there.
