Interesting Albright tweet from Vela FWIW

And FWIW on Magee, Braoddus tweeted that he looked really good in team run defense. I also think it was Eatman or Kavner that tweeted he was a ball hawk

Yep, Magee has been making plays last couple days from reports we have been seeing.

I never saw much in Albright. JAG to me.

Im tellin ya, Albright doesnt have a spot locked up like some people think.

Albright definitely fit better as a 3-4 OLB with positional flex to ILB in the old scheme.

He doesn't just look slow but he is a tick slower than every other LBer we have. Most of the rest of our guys run somewhere between 4.49 and about 4.68. Then there is Albright who ran around 4.85 if I remember correctly.

I don't know if he has enough strength to move over to DE. With all the injuries over there, that is what may make most sense.

The big plus with Albright is that he is very bright and has great positional flex. He can play DE, OLB, ILB, spot TE and all of the special teams units. The problem is whether he plays any of them now well enough to warrant a spot on the roster in the new scheme.

Well put. This pretty much sums it up. He's a very versatile player, even contributes on special teams. Just not sure where he would fit in this base defense. He'd get picked up by a 3-4 team quickly if released. I could see a player-for-player trade later in the preseason involving Albright...

This is weird cause he played a 4-3 D-end in college i don't know why he is at the backer spot, if we do trade think, New Orleans back with Rob.

if Albright does not make the team hopefully we can get a 6th or 7th round pick for him. there will be some 3-4 teams that will be watching what happens to him.

Probably because they don't think he's got the skill to play DE.

New Orleans may offer a box of pop-rocks for him but I doubt much more than that. If anything they'll wait for the Cowboys to release him and they would pick him up on waivers.

Put me down as still being a Albright fan.

I agree that he isn't a perfect fit for the new scheme but his overall versatility still lands him a roster spot IMO

Since we made the switch to the 43, I've been saying that for Albright it would be DE or nothing at all. I just can't see him as a 43 OLB. Too slow and too big for that spot in this defense.

I still think they should give him a look at DE though. He has good speed and change of direction for that spot... but maybe he simply can't anchor against the run good enough. IDK.

..and it still doesn't make sense. lol (had to)

Seriously though, i pointed out already a player Kiffin had in the past, of course i can't remember the name now, who was similar in size and athleticism to Albright who played very well as a SLB for the Bucs D. I think he could do just as well as Justin Durant, if not better.

Put me down as still an Albright guy, as well.. although i will admit it looks so far like Magee and Holloman could be decent players. We also have Sims who i think could start and be very good, as well.

Yeah, I had already thought about you, lol.

I like Albright, as you know I've already said... I just don't see him as an OLB in this scheme. I do see him as a possible DE though. In a defense that is predicated on speed, why would you put him at a position (OLB) where he would be slower than you'd like when you could put him in a position (DE) where he'd be faster than you like? Unless he can't anchor against the run, that is.

I'm with you though in that I like him and want him to make the 53. I just don't know if he will or not though.

If he doesn't, it says a lot about the depth on the defense.
