Brian Waters and the Zone Blocking Scheme

I'm just happy that we're finally running a zone scheme.

Our running game would've been a lot better the last few years had we been using this scheme.

No, it is not just the zone. It would have been good with any scheme if the team had treated the oline as a priority.

I'm not saying its just the zone but I think with the players we currently have that we would still struggle running the ball in the power scheme.

I think we could've been top 20 at least last season had we been in a zone scheme.

In all honesty, we dont really know how strong he is right now. In the past, he has been a strong guard able to generate a push, but he's 36 and didnt play last year. Hard to know whether or not he has kept himself in the gym to maintain that strength.

Some dudes are just strong. Like that uncle that can lift a car and has never touched a weight in his life.

Yea. I dont disagree.

But some 36 year olds who havent kept themselves in shape lose flexibility and mobility, not to mention muscle mass, which severely minimizes their functional strength. Like that uncle who went D1 and then opened a bar and lost every speck of athletic ability he ever had (true story) lol

And wasn't Solari there when Vermeil was, back when they had those incredible rushing teams with Larry Johnson? I remember when they came in to Texas Stadium and streamrolled what was a physical Parcells defense. That was really impressive.

Yes, Solari had the lines with Willie Roaf, Will Shields, Waters, Casey Wiegmann etc.
