James Harden foot locker commerical

I will admit having previously lived in OKC and attending many games that featured the beard.. I hated what he did. But I understand the money was not there in OKC he wanted to be a star. With that being said I loved this commercial haha..

Did he force his way out? It seemed to me management decided he wasn't worth a max deal and decided to trade him now as opposed to later.

They couldn't afford to max deal.. He would not take less money to maintain his current role. The Thunder offered Harden $55.5 million over four years -- $4.5 million less than the max deal Harden coveted.. Harden would have still made plenty of money.. They had just shelled out money the past two years on major roll players. That was the issue... If Harden was willing to except less he would have remained in one of the power houses in the NBA. Now with that being said, he has managed to have a pretty decent team built around him.

It's easy for us to scoff at $4.5 million (over 4 years is actually $18 million), but the owners, who make a lot more could've gone over the luxury tax to keep him, but decided not to. I personally tend not to blame players for wanting as much money as they can get, while they are worth this amount, because when their career is over, that's it.

Not to mention, in OKC at BEST he's going to be second fiddle - possibly third. In Houston, he is the guy (Dwight is second) and it's his team now. Money aside (because he'd be rich wherever he was) he gets a shot at being the guy on a team, which he wouldn't have had in OKC.
