The most optimistic I've been about a season since 2007

I see the arrow pointing up. I think if healthy this team will go 10-6, win the NFC East and a playoff game.

Biggest issues I see is OL (even though I think it will be a little better than last) and pass defense.

I thought I was referring to the last game.

Okay, let's just talk about the last game. My point still remains. We didn't have our starting RB. We didn't have our All-Pro caliber MLB. We didn't have Bruce Carter. Why are you pinning your point all on the last 5 minutes of the season? My point is that if we were healthy, it wouldn't have come down to the last 5 minutes of the season. That's a really narrow approach to take. Sure, we had our chances. But those chances would have been much better if we were healthy. Just the fact that we were still battling for the playoffs despite all the injuries just strengthens my point.

Wish I truly felt the same optimism. I feel great because I get to watch my favorite team but that excitement is not because I think they will sniff the Super Bowl. I happen to believe that all the offseason lack of offensive line moves and the subsequent updates of line injuries and shuffling pieces is the pre-cursor to what seems to keep following year after year. I believe this all leads to Romo running for his life, making enough dazzling plays to keep them in it, and then ultimately not making or screwing up a key play here or there that runs the season into the mud. I love the team because they are my team but their infrastructure on and off the field (o line, d line, scouting department) is deficient. One day they will get out of the talent acquisition business and into the team building business and experience more consistent, predictable success. Until then, I will keep watching and screaming at the TV but truly happy football is back.

I am optimistic as well. Part of it comes with season. Part of it is the nucleus of young stars we seem to be accumulating. But until I see it on the field, I have to temper that enthusiasm. They have to stop playing to the competition and blowout some bad teams and actually beat some good teams on the road, not just come close. The culture change seems to be real, but until we see an end to all the self inflicted wounds, I'll remain skeptical, but still hopeful.

Heartbreak brewing. That's what I see in here. Yes, I'm much more optimistic about our potential than I have been in a few years but I refuse to pencil in a successful record based on that potential.

Success won't surprise me but I'm prepared for mediocrity.

Romo wasn't throwing to Murray on that last pick? Or is there another starting RB that I dont know about

Brainfart on my part, but I am not changing my tune. You wanna know why? Cause I also remember now the reason we lost that game: Alfred Morris ran for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns. You gonna sit there with a straight face and honestly tell me that you don't think that Sean Lee, Bruce Carter and Jay Ratliff (you know, the entire middle of our defense and three of our best players) wouldn't have made a difference in that game? Seriously?

I am very confident, why? Because of the D, I know our O is scoring 21 to 24 + a game, that's a given, if our D plays as good as I think they will, we should win 11 + games and in the playoffs anything can happen.

If we lose either of the first 2 games I think a lot of peoples optimism will be waivered. They need to defend their house for once and start strong.

Cautiously optimistic. Still don't think we can run the ball, or will "stick with it" after repeated 2nd/3rd and longs. But if the defense is improved, maybe we can get it done with an aerial attack.

Can't put any losses last year on health. They choked a game against the Giants and did the same vs. Baltimore and NO. The only teams that flat out beat them last year were the Commanders (twice), Chicago, Seahawks, and Falcons. 3 of those games were not even close.

That's the funniest thing I've seen posted in awhile.

Hell, if we fall behind in the first game, I guarantee people will lose faith. Extremecowboyszone.com will be in full melt down mode if we lose to the Giants.

I'm confident because it looks like this defense is capable of finally producing turnovers.

I think the offense will be just as anemic as last years unfortunately, but if the defense can start making plays and getting us into good field position, then we will be a strong team.

Romo looks insane. He's good for 10 wins himself. All that matters is that pass defense.

Every season ends the same for this team. And every time I say I'm not gonna get excited about this team, this part of the year rolls around I get optimistic all over again. And each time I get suckered. Sorry for the pessimism but I wasn't old enough to take in the glory days of the 90's, all I've seen is the struggle.

Dang, you are young. And since you are, nothing wrong with getting excited about our team. You can either get "suckered" into always looking for the worst to happen, or you can get excited and enjoy the ride. I've always said that it's more fun to be a fan than a critic.

I know I'm excited. It's tempered, but I'm excited.

I'm in the same boat. Wasn't old enough to appreciate our 90s squads. But i sure as hell have tasted the heartache and stomached the bitter disappointment since.

Enough is enough.

No, the reason we lost the game is because Romo choked it away with 3 interceptions. Even with all the running Washington did, our defense which was comprised of mainly backups played as good as they could and gave Romo the ball back with 3 minutes left, down by 3, and all 3 timeouts left. What does he do? He throws interception #3 and puts the battered defense back on the field. In every game, you are only as strong as your weakest link and when that link happens to be your QB, you are in big trouble considering he touches the ball on EVERY offensive play.
