According to the Washington Post, the officer was shot near the room where a lone gunman had barricaded himself. According to the paper, police had the shooter "pinned down" between the third and fourth floors.

Seems like these things are happening more and more anymore.

Sad.

My girl drives by there every day, I go by there often. I even film at some of the hotels down there. I have 6 professional friends/associates that work there. I have sent out 5 emails only 3 safe responses.

Crazy thing is i was just there the other day. We parked there for the Nats vs Phils game only 2 days ago.

Scary to think about..

WASHINGTON — At least 12 people died Monday during a shooting at the Washington Navy Yard, officials said. One gunman died in the shooting, and police are seeking two other possible shooters.

Washington D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray said the gunman, whose name has yet to be released, was shot during an exchange with the Metro Police officer.

"As far as we know, it's an isolated incident," Gray said.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said authorities are seeking two possible suspects who may still be at large: a white male, 40 to 50 years old, wearing a khaki military-style uniform and a beret, carrying a handgun or pistol; and a black male, also 40 to 50 years old, 5'10", 180 pounds, medium complexion with gray sideburns and wearing an olive military-style uniform, carrying "a long gun."

The FBI, she said, is now taking the lead in the investigation.

This guy had a long history of violent behavior with firearms. There is no way in the world he should have had a clearance. I have no idea how this happened. This is absolutely what is never supposed to happen in that process. Somebody should seriously lose a job over this and also be prosecuted.

He was never charged. That isn't at all how the security clearance process works.

Doesn't matter. I have a clearance. I know exactly how the entire process works because it's what I do for a living. Not just mine but the people who work for me. I am cleared for the Navel Ship yards in DC. He has at least 4 different gun incidents if the reporting is accurate. There is no way, charged or not, that should not have shown up.

He also has mental health history. Somebody screwed up with the clearance on this guy.

He probably never had to get it renewed... You say you understand the entire process, but you've shown otherwise.
