ABC's Opener of 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D' is TV's #1 Drama Debut in 4 Years

A pretty good start.

Hope it doesn't get too campy. Only Downey can make campy look legit lol

I'm as big a Whedon fan as there is (and I've loved Clark Gregg since he showed up in "Sports Night" many many years ago). I saw nothing that made me want to come back to this show. It wasn't bad, exactly: just forgettable.

I can watch it just for something to watch but at the same time it was not very good and if I missed it and never watched again it would not be a loss.

Let's just say that the pilot was somewhat slow in developing. I could see where it wouldn't last very long.

Boring. The so called supervillian (or Hero) powers was wow, he is strong, and can climb brick buildings by PUNCHING thru with his hands! So, ORIGINAL! Lame. Just as all the boring talking that went on with the show. I wanted more street action. Not all this back to back talking in their offices.

Never even new it was on. Oh well, I guess I'll have to follow the thread to see if it was any good.

You are looking for the wrong show then. If you aren't interested in good dialogue, you probably won't appreciate this at all. And they aren't going to go all Super Super on us....the effects budget would kill the show.

Spoilers ahead.....

I liked the acknowledgement of the Marvel Universe, the fact that they referenced the Avengers movie events, etc. The set up a lot of subplots. Given the problems Whedon had with the pilots for Firefly and Dollhouse, I thought he moved a bit towards a more mainstream approach here. And the 'hero' had been injected with a derivation/re-attempt at a Super Soldier serum. Nice classic reference; but it isn't going to make you turn into Nightcrawler.

Dialog is fine. But not 80% of the show. The only real action scenes came at the beginning and end of the show. Effects budget? Pretty sure their effects budget is bigger than Smallville's. Smallville had action all thruout. That was their calling card. The effects.

All I said was I was tired of the office dialog banter that went back and forth between the agents. You like it, otay. I see the name Marvel attached with the show, I expect more.

The one girl was hot as heck. But the show had some good points and bad. I am going to watch another episode next week to see if I want to continue watching it or not.

The same complaint as the Sopranos... Not enough whacking... Too much dialog and a shrink. Lol

Lack of effects will be the tell all. Tell me a story that doesn't need an overload of effects... Then you have something.

found the first episode dialogue contrived and the plot-line predictable.

rooting they can turn it around

Well it is true that Marvel is not a bastion of good writing.

Introduction of characters, set up of relationships, setting up subplots, etc. I imagine they'll get to the BiffPow stuff later. Might never be enough action for some though. It'll never get to the level of the movies. Just the nature of things. It's superagents level action, which will be more about investigation, dealing with low level supers, etc. Not about confronting Galactus weekly.

Talking about science fiction special effects. Not crime dramas.

I can't say that it was all that great, but I think they can go somewhere with it if they try so I plan on tuning in again next week.

Just the vibe I got from the commercials was it was going to almost be a Marvel version of the show Heroes, am I right?
