133-133 is our record since '97.

Whatever were doing is not working. Keep the YOUNG core players and start the rebuild process with Gruden ( previously said wants another crack at coaching).

Players to build around:

Dez
Claiborne
Carr
Lee
Tyron
Fredrick

Everyone else can be chopped liver for all that matters.

I agree with rebuilding but let the new coach decide on who he wants to build around.

If we're being honest, I think that's what we've been doing. We just don't call it that.

I disagree. Every offseason it's "the window is closing we got to win now". IMO, that window ain't been open since '95.

Amen!

For the first time since Jimmy, can the Cowboys (read: Jerry) let a coach decide who he wants and who he doesn't.

They just resigned Romo to a 100 million dollar contract. That doesn't sound like a team getting ready to rebuild. Jerry thought we were just a Brian Waters away from competing this year.

I know that's what we're saying, but if you look at what we've done, it's been a massive rebuilding effort.

Rebuild?

Yeah, I think it's getting close to that.

This team loses to the Giants in two weeks and...

Well let me say, if they then lost the remaining 5 games on their schedule I wouldn't pitch a fit over it.

I hate 8-8 because you're not good or bad. And meaningful change comes under the worst possible circumstances– And 8-8 ain't it.

And there lies a fundamental problem, because just like in 2008 we are not one player away.

any starting over has to start with a new coaching staff and a new QB....period.
Love Romo to death and all, but if he wins a playoff game before he retires I'll be surprised.

Most bandwagon fans are on board with "rebuilding" because they can tune out (as bandwagon fans tend to do) until the team is a winner again. No skin off their back.

Let's play a game: you name all of the teams who have "rebuilt" and became a contender, and I will name all of the teams who rebuilt and never stopped. Who will have the bigger number?

Rebuilding is the easy part.

Keeping Jerra out of the war room and off the (figurative) sidelines is the difficult part.
You cannot rebuild properly with jerra.

You make a valid point. There is no "magic" is simply rebuilding.

The difference between lettuce and garbage is timing. The situation in Dallas obviously isn't right... Some has to do with the players... Some with coaching... Some with management. But it's not right.

Chiefs, niners, Seahawks, colts and the panthers look like they're heading in that direction to name recent few.

Jerry the GM does not have the ability to rebuild a team, he can't build one from the ground up and he can't get a mediocre team over the virtual hump. This option should never be on the table as long as he retains the GM title.

I have always been a Romo fan but in a long thread this past off-season I argued we should have traded him and begun our rebuilding process. Now that's going to be very difficult to do.

We could have gotten a #1 draft pick and more for Tony had we acted sooner. Now we will be saddled with his massive contract for years.

Dallas thinks they are close. Thats why they did Romo extension. Your gonna have to site tight for about 2-3 years with what your seeing on field. The only way they could make realistic changes is by having ton or cap space or draft new QB in round 1. I don't see either of those being viable until about 2016 season.
