IRVING, Texas -- The buzz coming out of the Senior Bowl when it comes to Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware is that the seven-time Pro Bowler had a down season, but it's not the start of a severe decline. The Cowboys will have to figure out a way to make Ware's $16.003 million salary cap number work by either asking him to take a pay cut or restructuring the deal. They also must figure out a way to keep him healthy, but Jason Garrett believes there could be a remedy to Ware's play: more practice.

Through the course of a regular season, teams practice three times a week for 16 weeks, excluding the bye week. Over the last two years, Ware has been on the daily injury report 57 times. He has been listed as a full participant 14 times. He has been listed as limited 22 times and as did not practice 21 times.

Ordinarily, a limited practice means a player did not take any team snaps but went through individual work.

Of the 96 practices the last two seasons in which a daily injury report was filed with the league, Ware was limited or out 43 times. That is a staggering percentage.

Those are amazing numbers....

I would make his entire house a hyperbaric chamber.
Give him a live-in acupuncturist.
Anything!
If he doesn't take a paycut, they need him at TOP LEVEL.

Well, one solution to the drop off in production due to injuries is to not be injured as much. I suppose that's hard to argue with. Somebody who knows Ware's twitter handle, can you tell him to practice more for us?

So let me get this straight...............The Organization wants

1. Ware to practice more

2. Ware to play less snaps....

3. For less money.

LOL...........Only in Dallas. Never gonna happen.

twitter @demarcusware Go for it!

If Ware's going to be playing at 50%, ask him to cut his salary by 50%. It's only fair to both parties.

just cut him.

Those are amazing numbers....

The number Dallas wants is sacks. In 2013 he had a career low even lower than his rookie season. His tackles were also a low. His forced fumbles that he was known for was a career low also. A big fat zero.

I think this will make a big difference. Keep him practicing. You cant just practice half the time then just turn it on on sundays. Guy looked gassed too much

Garrett seems to be seeing this thing in denial that Ware's body may be breaking down. If it's in truth actually breaking down, however, and Ware's either encouraged or prodded to practice despite it, it's entirely possible that his injury problem might only become further exacerbated. I've gotta wonder if Garrett's perspective about practicing isn't playing a role as to why this team is encountering so many injury problems during his tenure.

Actually I believe a big part of the increase in injuries is the fact that they cut out a lot of full pads practices and such in the offseason/training camp.

There is no way to get football ready outside of actually practicing football, in pads, on a regular basis.

Demarcus ware forced fumbles per season his 1st 8 seasons is 4.0 that is 32 ff between 2005 -2012 and in 2013......0.0

If he doesn't take a hefty paycut they better cut him. For 12 mil I expect 12+ sacks and that's being generous. I don't see him staying healthy or getting double digit sacks. Id be willing to give him another year to see what's he's got left but only if he takes a paycut.

Just like I told you guys Miles was a nobody, Ware is officially an expendable nobody. Stop worrying about names!!!!! Get rid of these mentally weak guys please.

Idk if they're mentally weak but they have won us nothing during their tenure here. So no need to be sentimental. Fact is, miles and ware alone are crippling the cap. Ware is not worth 12.25 mil, roughly 2 mil per sack if he has repeat performance of this past season.
