Stop sleeping on Cole Beasley

And yet last year Beasley was on the field for 100 more offensive snaps than Harris and was targeted 54 times to Harris' 14 times.

At this point, i don't even consider Harris a WR on this team.. he's a ST/return ace.

You make a great point---as it pertains to last year. If Devin Street pans out, and if the Cowboys manage to sign another WR who looks promising, it might come down to an either/or situation regarding Beasley and Harris. If it does, Harris' role on special teams could easily trump Beasley's prowess at the one position he plays.

My point, quite simply, is that the fact that Beasley plays one position could end up costing him, regardless of how well he plays it.

You lost me at the end there.

Okay, let's try it another way. His lack of versatility could end up hurting his chances. He may be a slightly better "slot" receiver than WR "x", but if "x" can play the X, Z, and slot positions, odds are he'd make the team ahead of Beasley.

We all love Beasley but Street has the ability to win the 3rd WR spot. I think he does. If Washington or Boyd wins the 4th spot over Beasley (they aren't getting rid of Harris) that would be a good thing. Not because Beasley would be the odd man out but because the UDFA that took over for Beasley would have shown considerable talents and would upgrade the unit. Either way it's a win-win (win) for Dallas.

Are you saying Cole Beasley sleeps around?

No I din't read the thread because no one is sleeping on him. He simply hasn't done anything.

Beasley has the skill to dominate as a slot receiver. Anybody that even thinks there is a slight chance he's not gonna make the team is absolutely insane. He will be a key in our offense as a slot receiver this year, I fully expect him to go over 60 catches and around 700 yards. Harris is a backup receiver and special teamer first, Cole has a far bigger role on our offense. And Street? Give me a break. If he makes the team he should be glad. If he beats out Harris for a backup job he should celebrate. He's not moving ahead of Cole.

He does two things really well. He gets open and he catches the football. If it's me he's in the game every snap that is a crucial passing down, e.g., 3rd downs and the red zone. You can never give the QB enough targets that he can trust when it matters most. Beasley is one of those guys.

I disagree that he can't be more than he was last year. I don't believe his role will change much, just the amount of times he's targeted in that role.

The guy was drawing 3rd down double coverage by the end of the year. He's going to make the team. So will Harris. One of the long rookies will make it, with another likely stashed on the PS.
