I've been driving a 98' Jeep Wrangler for the last 6 years. Love it, great vehicle, albeit not very practical with my large tires...Anyhow, I've got a new job where I'll have to do a bit of traveling (three hours to from Atlanta to Nashville every few weeks and local sales calls), I now have an infant and use a car seat (really sucks in the Jeep), and I'll probably have to entertain some clients. So I'm looking for a new (used) car and would appreciate your opinions on the best bet.

Looking for the best 4-door sedan with the best combo of:
Performance
Gas Mileage
Leg Room
Style
Under 30K

Looking hard at the Dodge Charger right now, but like to hear about what you guys drive.

If you are going to go with the charger and are ok with that MPG it offers...why not go with the Challenger as it looks MUCH better IMO.

Is that four door? I need to put a car seat in the back. But, I agree--they do look cool.

Charger has 31 highway, which is not to shabby.

I bought my son a loaded 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid...

Big and roomy... 44 mpg... very plush and comfortable...

Nice power as well...

Bought a 4-door 2007 Honda Accord off one of those cash-only dealer lots. I have an hour commute to work and the cost in gas savings is huge compared to my SUV. When I go out of town to FW, I still have half a tank of gas to use after a 4 hour drive. The newer ones are real nice and look like a pretty decent size.

I was looking at some later model Accords, but review seem mixed. Complaints of loud road noise and being under powered.

That is one I have not considered. I usually don't think of Ford outside of Trucks and Mustangs. I will have to do some research, thanks.

If you're getting a 4-cylinder, then I'd agree. But I also had a v-6 Honda at one time and I was very pleased with the power.

Re: road noise, I've found that it has a lot to do with the tires. I've had some bad tires on my Honda, so the noise from the road is always an issue.
But in general, if I have the radio playing at a decent volume, I don't notice it at all.

A friend of mine just bought his wife, who's a regional director for a Pharm Co, a loaded 2013 Buick Regal w/ less than 8000 miles on it. They went through the GM Certified program and got a really nice warranty package. I think they paid right at $30k?

She drives 2-3 days every other week, from Dal to Austin and on to Midland, then back to Dal. They also have 2 kids, both in car seats.

She loves it and the 2 times I've been in it, it was really comfortable.

toyota avalon...not sure what kind of performance you are looking for...but as far as the rest of the package, considering your price range, its imo, easily your best bet....

Good pick. Avalon seems to get really good reviews.

I'll have to test drive one. As far as performance goes, I just want something with good acceleration that's fun to drive (since I'll be in the car a lot).

its an amazing car. I used to have one. Easily one of the best cars ive ever owned...I have nothing but great things to say about that car....

its essentially the same car as the Lexus LS...made by the same people...probably made w the same parts...just 35K or so cheaper bc it doesnt have the Lexus name tag to go along w it

I thought maybe I am wrong, but thought the Fusion was getting the award winning 3 cylinder from the Fiesta, it is turbo charged makes 120 hp and gets 45 mpg in the Fiesta, probably close in the Fusion.

I paid $14,900 and it is mint. Only had 42,000 miles so I was able to transfer the warranty for $75... good to 100,000. They are around if you look.

No matter what you choose, one thing I recommend is to use autocheck over carfax... MUCH more thorough. Also, many mechanic shops will go over the car for $100 or so... cheap insurance...

I don't think I could drive a 3 cylinder, LOL.

I have an 06' Accord V6 and love it. It has 250 hp, and is no slouch for a Honda. A 2014 Accord V6 has 278 hp.

I'm at 130k miles and the only thing I've had to do is routine service and change the tires. You could easily pick up a 2012 EX-L V6 with 270 hp and low mileage (30k) for under 20k I'd imagine.

Hear me out before ya laugh...........

My wife has one because she drives about 600 miles a week. Talk about dependable, never had a problem with it, never and it is a few years old. You can get one just shy of 20k(2012 or 2013) or even go a couple of years older.

It doesn't look like a lot of room inside....wrong, it is pretty spacious. She hauls two girls around(3 and a 4 yr old) and there is quite a bit of room in the back for packing stuff in. It has all the bells and whistles:
NAV system
hands-free built in phone/bluetooth
power everything

It really is a good ride, nice and smooth and if you tend to have a lead foot.......no more speeding tickets for you :)

It is a bit embarrassing when I drive it and two hot little numbers pull up next to me at a light, giggling or whatever. I just give them a "whats up" nod and push up on the shades some

Oh, if someone needs a jumpstart and you are there to help, don't walk around like I did wondering where the battery is........
