The won-loss record isn't important in the pre-season but how the team looks does and the defense looks awful. Yes some starters didn't play but a lot of those second stringers are going to be counted on to contribute this year. And that's not even counting on injuries which could make some of them starters.

You mean when we had our 2's going against their 1's?

The comment was directed at we played rookies all night, that isn't true. Read the post I made that comment on. If you are going to comment on something at least understand what the conversation was.

Forget Escobar. The Claiborne pick has turned out to be a total disaster.

Could have had Brockers and Wagner.

For real. They would have made a major difference right now.

And we know that's who we would have taken because Stephen said so shortly after the draft.

Vaughan looking pretty good.

Don't worry about the safety position, Johnson is going to suit up for us in 2018.

Nah. How individual players look matters, I'll grant you. But you can't look at a roster that's got 44 guys playing on it that aren't going to make it to being active on game day and draw conclusions about how the entire team is going to play.

The defense is going to be awful. Because it's been awful for three seasons and we lost talent and didn't do enough in the offseason to replace it. But not because we're playing soft coverages, not getting enough rush, and getting blown off the line on run defense.

As I said above, though, there's nothing remotely positive about the play from these DLs tonight. I liked Bishop's hustle to save the TD, I guess. But we're mostly betting pushed around out there. The LBs haven't had a chance. And we know this isn't our real secondary, but they've been bad, too.

This Vaughan has been a nice surprise, though. I think he's out played Hanie, anyway.

Oh, I understood just fine. You implied that our defense wasn't good at the beginning despite not having a bunch of rookies in there, and my response was that we had backups going against starters.

What about it?

The starters in the secondary and two on the DL not playing tonight. This game is good for evaluating individuals on howmthey handled their individual responsibilities. Uisng it as a basis to evaluate the defense as a unity would be stupid.

If it was you I made that comment too, you said we played rookies they all suck. That wasn't true, although we didn't have most of the probable starters in we did in fact play a number of players who may start and many who will play a lot. That was the point. I've explained it a number of times

I know it's a joke, but has there been any update on Johnson?

I really can't go through another year of Jeff Heath.
