I know some of these guys play different positions/roles but if you had to choose your final roster from these matchups, who you got?

Mitchell vs. Patmon (I did not include Webb b/c from what I read on the DMN today, it sounds like he's expected to make the team)

C. Lawrence vs. W. Smith

Byrd vs. Newsome

R. Williams vs. J. Randle

Wetzel vs. Parnell

A. Watson vs. Clutts

U. Nwaneri vs. Patrick

Hayden vs. Coleman vs. Bishop (choose two)

ALL THREE (since I didn't keep a FB).

If I have to play by the rules, I keep Clutts, Coleman, and Bishop.

Agree with this list but would keep Parnell and move Wetzel to PS. Would rather they cut Webb and keep Patmon as well but draft slot saves Webb. Hope they don't do the same with Randle in that he isn't a special player and a similar replacement could be found if need be. Pass protection shouldn't be the first positive mentioned for a RB...two kickers:D
 
Mitchell vs. Patmon >>> I keep both these guys over Webb, Patmon is the better player in the short term but Mitchell will be over the long term.

C. Lawrence vs. W. Smith >>> Will Smith. Both would be a ST guy but Smith has more upside.

Byrd vs. Newsome >>> Newsome, but both may end up on this year's practice squad.

R. Williams vs. J. Randle >>> I would like to keep both but Randle helps in more facets of the game.

Wetzel vs. Parnell >>> Parnell, not even close.

A. Watson vs. Clutts >>> Neither

U. Nwaneri vs. Patrick >>> Nwaneri as a solid bench guy, Patrick as a practice squad guy

Hayden vs. Coleman vs. Bishop (choose two) >>> Hayden and Coleman, Bishop is a good player but will clear waivers and make the practice squad.

BTW, love your signature pick. It has that "Band of Brothers" look.
 
Patmon - I like Mitchells bravado, but every.time I look up he's getting beat or.drawing a.flag.
W. Smith - I've seen Lawrence, I want to see if there's more in smith
Byrd - nothing against Newsome, but Byrd has experience and can step in if Dez or Williams go down as a nice big target.
Williams - Still haven't figured out why he hasn't been discuss as a threat to Dunbars role. DUNBAR is fragile and imagine Williams on those screens. He makes plays and people miss, not to mention he can replace either Murray or Dunbar due to injury without having to alter.the playbook.
Parnell- Parnell has experienced with the core linemen. Wetzel maybe in a couple of years.
Watson - just not a fan of clutts
NWA - too much experience. Patrick in a couple of years.
Coleman & bishop - Coleman is a steal. Watched him last game with the 1st and he was always in the backfield. Bishop because his name isn't Hayden. I've seen this Hayden movie before and it's ugly.

If Webb is not cut I'll be shocked and disappointed. Just another clueless move by the cowboys by not selecting their best players.

Everyone is now all of assuden down on mitchell because he got burned a few times and has a holding issue, Well he's a rookie and he was not burned way more than he was & his holding issue is correctable. Webb has made a total of 1 play I believe since being drafted & constantly looks lost dude should be gone

NIce thread. I was just going through the roster and was thinking of making a thread about who people have as their last 22 cuts, actually 23, since Spencer will be removed from PUP and added to the roster. This is before the final preseason game though.
And had a list that came down to my last 5, similier to yours.

Cuts that I have no problem coming up with....not even thinking PS at this point either, well not too much...
Vaughan [ps], Adams. Benford, Briscoe, Sapp, Lemon, R. Smith, K. Smith, Watson, Goodin, Patrick [ps], Wetzel [ps], Aledenoye, Bush [ps], Rayford, Boatright, Minter.

Now to the last 5...
W. Smith, keeping Lawrence, as ST's play is proven, Smith good PS guy
Weems, keeping Parnell, as team seems to like him more still at this point
Webb, keeping Patmon, however I wouldn't be surprised, if they keep Webb, and try to get Patmon to PS
Newsome, keep Byrd, I think only because Byrd can play ST's. Also depends how much he can contribute though, if not that much, and is inactive, then might as well keep Newsome.
Hamilton, this was a tough choice, but it's a numbers game here, and it was between Hamilton, Heath, Dixson, Patmon to keep, unless they keep 10 DB's. I have them keeping 9, because of going long at WR & possibly RB.

Now for the toughest choice, Randle, Williams, Clutts. Right now I will say Randle will be a surprise cut, depending on the severity of his rib injury. Or Clutts and go no FB for a few games until they get the DL sorted out and specer / Lawrence return. As they may go long here, but once one or both of them return, do they need that many DL.
I have them keeping 10 for now.

Now I'm sure I have some numbers of how many kept at what positions messed upped, but this is my shot at it for now. It's early, on 1st cup of coffee...LOL

Good post. It's basically a simple form of picking your 53 more of less.

Patmon - I'm not sure Mitchell can succeed with the NFL PI and Holding rules.

C. Lawrence vs. W. Smith
I would probably pick Smith but they probably go with Lawrence. Lawrence was a core ST guy last season; although, I did see Smith make some tackles on ST against the Dolphins. Smith has some more upside as a LB. Smith appears a little sluggish after missing significant time with an injury. He looked much faster in college.

Byrd vs. Newsome
Coin flip. I think Newsome has shown up a little more in the preseason, but Byrd is 6-4, 220 and ran a 4.45 forty. I think neither ends up on the 53 to start the season. Activating Spencer is going to take away an extra player somewhere.

R. Williams vs. J. Randle
Both. They both looked good this preseason. Randle is more proven on ST but Williams did get some reps there the other day. If forced to pick, Williams.

Wetzel vs. Parnell
Easy choice. Parnell. Wetzel is RT only. They have to have somebody that can play LT. Trying to move Free to LT and replacing him with Wetzel in the event of an injury to Tyron would be a disaster. Parnell started a game in place of Tyron in 2012 and played most of another one. He was more than adequate.

A. Watson vs. Clutts
Watson. I didn't specifically review him, but I noticed Watson make some really good blocks against the Dolphins when Williams was having success running the ball.

U. Nwaneri vs. Patrick
Patrick is highly likely to make the PS. If not for Romo's age and back, I might go with Patrick, but they need to go max effort to protect Romo this season so I'll go with Nwaneri.

Hayden vs. Coleman vs. Bishop (choose two)
Easy choice for me. Coleman and Bishop. Bishop is already almost if not as good as Hayden and Bishop has upside. Hayden is a run stopper only type DT that's not very good at stopping the run. I think the Cowboys might try to keep all of them.
