Twitter: Cowboys release WR Jamar Newsome

yea if they released him for the hell of it, I would seriously question why he would be one of the firsts to go.
 
They knew who they were cutting last night. I like this kid and hope he makes it too the PS
 
Word from TheFan is that the Turk is making the rounds but that the official release will come tomorrow. Obviously, some agents will want to get the world out ASAP so their clients can look at opportunities.
 
I don't like this cut. He's a better receiver than Dwayne Harris by a long shot. Not a kick returner like Harris, but worthy of a spot.

I didn't want to cut Byrd, but knew it had to be him or Newsome. Perhaps both now, I suspect.

They'll never get Newsome on a practice squad, imo. A team will pick him up.

Its possible they did it as a favor to get him and his agent out before the flood gates
 
This one stinks. The guy played well enough to make a roster.

I liked Newsome too.

But you're not saying you would CUT DWAYNE HARRIS, right?

I mean, he is literally one of the most valuable players on the entire team....some (not me) go as far as saying top 5 due to the difference he makes in field position.

newsome has been around the league forawhile. not sure he is eligable for the ps. and there is no way i cut harris for a camp guy no mater how well he looked in camp. harris can win us games with his returns and his coverage. the 6th wr is not even going to be active come game day

Funny how everything is spun into a boondoggle by the front office. IMO the team knows Newsome is good enough to make an NFL roster but not good enough to beat out Street, so they are putting this out early to give him a better chance of catching on with another team.
 
Will be playing close attention to what happens with Boyd now.

Dwayne Harris? Harris is like 4th or 5th on the depth chart lol. Harris spot is guaranteed. Newsomes competition was Beasley, Streets, Byrd, etc.
