So much of Jim being a tough guy against Domestic Violence. I for sure thought he wouldn't play. I know he has been charged but when does the domestic violence suspension kick in?

Due process, blah, blah, blah...

SF couldn't afford to be missing another starter from that defense.

Schefter just said about 20 minutes ago the league isn't going to hand out suspensions without seeing the outcome of any charges.

I dunno why anyone would be shocked.

That was honestly won from a Dallas perspective...

I did not read or hear that yet. I had just turned in NFLN at 7am and saw the scroll at the bottom.

I think that is fair. But if McDonald did abuse his wife, Harbaugh needs to make an example of him. Due process is reasonable but coach needs to backup his talk - I honestly think he is the sort of coach who will.

The 49ers cannot suspend him but they don't have to play him either. He would be riding the pine if I were the coach.

So you are surprised since you didn't read even the most basic, one paragraph summary of the new policy?

No I'm surprise at Jim allowing him to play. I was asking a basic question about the league. Is that a problem? That's what this board is for.

There have been statements in the past by him about domestic abuse and other players have said the same. I'm surprised he's allowing him to play.

You just said you didn't know the policy required adjudication. Sheesh.

Winning > Discipline

He can't afford to lose another starter, but he will lose credibility.

I remember the day when NFL head coaches had some backbone and weren't afraid to discipline their players. Looks like those days are gone. The inmates are now running the asylum.

Easy to say that from your couch.

You don't agree? If your a coach/leader and you take a hard stance against something like Harbaugh did then you have to follow threw or your team will lose the respect for you. People say a lot things but it's what they do that matters most.

McDonald was arrested in 2010 for driving under the influence in San Mateo County and again in 2012 on an outstanding warrant from that arrest.
Last week, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell instituted harsher penalties for all league employees involved in assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault. First-time offenders will receive a six-game suspension. A second offense will result in a lifetime ban. Goodell adopted the harsher penalties after he suspended Ravens running back Ray Rice for two games in July for knocking his then-fiancee unconscious, a punishment the commissioner later acknowledged was too lenient.

I don't think his team will lose respect for him at all, maybe people outside of the team will, but I doubt Harbaugh really cares what people thinks of him.

I understand the league not suspending him for this game but I wont understand the team not suspending him they need to send a message to their players.

a charge is not a conviction, innocent until proven guilty.......and until he's found guilty, there won't be a suspension..

When Dez slapped his mother, I'm sure you were screaming for the Cowboys to suspend him, right!!

It's likely that she will refuse to cooperate and the case goes away. Nothing happens.
