Blue Star Times: AT&T Stadium, a visitor’s vacation haven

My column today in the Blue Star Times:

Jerry was seething.

There he sat, in his Emperor’s Chair, family in tow, while the enemy danced a happy jig in his self-aggrandizing Cathedral of Monstrosity, laughing in his face all the while. He was the star attraction in a football freak show.

It was humiliating in a way money and booze can’t soothe.

Don’t be fooled. Yes, Jerry does care more about green than red or blue, but the Occupation he witnessed Sunday didn’t render a single extra dollar his way. In fact, it cost him because Niners fans don’t buy jerseys, regalia, and nighties from Victoria Secret if they’re littered with Cowboy stars. Beer cashes the same no matter which jerseys are lined up at the men’s room, but not in greater quantity.

I said it in the other thread. Win more games and the Cowboy fans will return. Continue to lose and they will continue to sell their tickets.

Ok just 2 days ago Jerry was saying he had tunnel vision. He never paid attention to the red because he just watches the field. I believe he even told the guy BS when he mentioned all that red.

Then he gives a interview. Well it's the stadium. It's so nice. How can you blame fans wanting to see THAT?
And oh yea all those transplants..

Now he's seething.

Maybe he's pissed off about all those OTHER things going on in his life.

While nothing's better than going into the stadium, I know more than a few locals who simply like to tailgate. Pay for parking and then setup shop for some day long entertainment.

One would think, someone would point it out to him about all the opposing fans in the stadium.

He was just angry that guy called him out on it. I don't think Jerry likes those kind of questions. That's why he made up that crap about not noticing. I have tunnel vision. Yea whatever Jerry.

It keeps happening, he knows why, and he knows he's the reason.

I wonder when will Jerry Jones begin stocking game specific merchandise for visiting teams in the stadium's pro shop? Last Sunday, I visited the pro shop once and observed it twice while making food runs. There was easily 30% to 50% 49er fans browsing inside the store each time. Most weren't buying anything because it is mainly stocked with Cowboys related items.

It won't be long probably.

Trust me he will feel it when the Texans come to town.

Good point that I never really thought of. Well done.

Yep, and that's going to hurt. I think Dallas wins that day because Fitzpatrick is Fitzpatrick, so Jerry will put the happy face on. But inside, it will bother him to see the foothold the Texans have in this state.

Well they are Texans right? And Texans are unique in a unique state. I am not so I never got that whole Texas thing but I hear it from pretty much everyone who is from Texas. Nowhere else like Texas!

I thought the Houston Texans' following was pretty much just down in their part of the state though.

Yes, but young kids tend to go with the Texans. There are a ton of Cowboys fans in Houston, but they're generally older or they belong to the crips and bloods.

The percentages are changing with younger generations.

I don't have anything against them. JJ is my favorite NFL player because I love the way he plays & he's a good guy.

I like that bull logo too.

They'll bring a load of fans. Hopefully for all the Cowboy fans in Houston Dallas wins. My dad just moved from that area.
