Bizarre Rushing Stat

Wow!!! Very interesting!! Something Jerry definitely need to consider when it comes to his big payday.

Murray won't get a big payday. Rbs simply don't make that kind of money anymore.

But people are fooling themselves if they think that setting up your line for blocks is something all backs do easily.

Murray can also catch the ball and excels in pass blocking.

He's 26. If he stays healthy you sign him to a modest 3 or 4 year deal.

I'm not for giving him a big contract but let's be real here. Murray has a career average of 5+ yards per carry. Even before this year when he had Costa, Nagy, Kowalski, Livings, and Bern blocking for him.

He is an above average back.

If Murray can keep this pace up I don't see why they shouldn't give him a fair contract. Jerry has given us many years of grief with his drama. At least give him a fair shot of coming back next year and be a dominant runner once again.

Which is why it's so absurd for pundits to say Romo finally has a running game, no he just chose to pass more prior to getting surgery...

You think it's Romo wanted to pass more, I think it was JG. Maybe both. Bottom line is, they had good enough line last year to run more yet they still didn't.

I know Zack Martin is good but I refused to believe we were an average line last year that became the best in the league all of sudden because of one rookie guard.

Fortunately we have more time before having to commit to Murray long-term, but if he keeps up this sort of pace you're going to have a tough time convincing me we should just move on to the next guy. The line has been phenomenal, but like others have said, Murray had a career 5.0 YPC average BEFORE ever playing behind this line.

I think Martin was the tipping point. Frederick is no longer a rookie and is gaining regard for being one of the premier centers. Leary is healthy, and seasoned. And the majority of the line actually has experience playing together, which never hurts.

I agree with everything you posted but some of things I see posted or on TV makes it sound like our line was just average last year which wasn't true.

We can run better this year and Oline being better is only one of reasons but not the only reason. I have a feeling if we had Linehan here last year, we would have ran more and better last year.

Very true. There's no doubt we were never committed to the run in the past. Whether that was Romo or Garrett, or both of them, it doesn't matter. We were a team that looked for reasons not to run. Down 3 points? Time to throw! No gain on the ground? Time to throw!

Looking back at the opener, we saw the foundation for our change in philosophy. Down a bazillion at the half, we opened up the second half with consecutive run plays and never abandoned the run. At the time it felt like we were just trying to get through the game and move on to Week 2, but in hindsight I think that was evidence of our new philosophy. We encountered a similar situation against St. Louis, and that commitment to the ground game was a big reason we overcame a three-score deficit.

He's typically given two plays in which one is a run and one is a pass, he has typically chosen pass most often thru his career.

This year Murray is averaging 5.4 yds per carry, his rookie year he averaged 5.5.... Anybody want to brag about that OL?
