I love Smokey Robinson. Are there any R&B artists that you love? Feel free to post them here. Any decade is welcome.

I do like this version of Cruising, too. A lot. I love it, actually! Gwyneth Paltrow is a sexy chic with a sultry voice. She sings Smokey very well.

I thought this was going to be a thread about us playing well in our blue road uniforms.

I really like that version too. She and Babyface did a version of "Just My Imagination" that I like a lot also.

Yeah, Gwyneth can really sing. Kinda wish she had stuck with it. She got her looks from her beautiful mommy. Don't know who she got her voice from, but she sure got it. She's not Mariah Carey of course, but she is smooth and sultry, and her voice is much sexier. Gwyneth's voice would probably be more the way you would want to hear your lady sing when she is "slipping into something more comfortable" for bed. If I was a guy, that's what I would want.;)

I like the way you think!

Not a big Smokey fan but my alltime favorite is Stevie Wonder. I also love Michael Jackson, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Isaac Hayes as well.

This is for our Cowboys. Join the party. Nobody parties like Parliament! PARTY FOR THE BOYZ, COME ON YALL!

I like P Funk.

I like most R & B abd Blues music a lot.

Keep my Pandorra on Buddy Guy station

Also just got the new LIVE gary clark jr CD - Real Nice

Shouldn't have taken this long to get to Bill Withers...

I think there's a lot of cool stuff out today. Jhene Aiko and Mapei both have a cool song and are still new to it all.

Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Ottis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, great genre that I could go on forever with. They're a little more on the B side, but Junior Kimbrough, RL Burside, and Gary Clark Jr are some of my favorites that I'm listening to right now.

I love this man, here. Aloe Blacc. He is an amazing R&B singer/songwriter. Very gifted, with great style and class. I am touched by his voice. Please give him a chance. He is worth your time. Trust me. I have great taste in music.;)

This here is a live version he did in the subway. My gosh, he is so naturally raw and perfect. Gives me chills. His live performances are incredible.

Here is the studio of the same song. This is one of my favorite songs ever. It is worthy of two postings. The little girl that plays his daughter is so beautiful. Such a sweet spirit. When I first saw this video, I thought she really was his daughter. Their chemistry is daddy/daughter amazingly real.

There's lots more where this came from. He is a good one.

Gary Clark Jr. is awesome, but idk that he would be R&B...he's a bit more rock-blues to me. I guess that's splitting hairs a bit, but I'd lump him more in with Kenny Wayne Shepherd than Marvin Gaye.

Aloe Blacc is phenomenal, can't believe I didn't mention him...though I don't have the emotional connection you do . His acoustic version of "Wake Me Up" - which Avicii called him specifically to write, is a killer.

Yall probably know this song.....

Yes, his Wake Me Up version is awesome, and the acoustic really shows his vocal ability. My favorite though, is the subway gig of You Make Me Smile. Geez, that man is not only talented, but aint he brave?? lol

I would agree with you on Gary Clark Jr. The problem that arises is that rock is an extension of blues. Kenny Wayne Shepherd is a master blues guitarist, just like Stevie Ray Vaughan was. Very true, they are nothing like Marvin Gaye. lol. Two opposite ends of sort of the same spectrum, so to speak.

I have a bad habit of becoming emotionally connected to a fantastic voice. A voice (and music in general) has the ability to transcend all hurdles in life, to lift one's spirit to a new level, and take away any pain one might be currently feeling. Even if only for a little while. One of my favorite quotes is, "music is the universal language of mankind." ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, respectively. I learned this quote when I was quite young, and have carried it with me throughout my life. Spirit waters run deep. Spirit skies soar high. (sorry, that's the Apache in me.):)
