Do you notice that certain posters only post after the Cowboys lose?

It just must tickle them pink. I have not seen some of the these guys since week 1 on here. Makes you wonder if they really are cowboy fans! Maybe just trollin!

I have, and because of that some of the better, more interesting posters tend to avoid posting. Which only makes things worse. I am guilty of that myself, but I am not calling myself one of the better posters.

This isn't unusual. That's pretty common for a few posters here. That's why most people pretty much ignore them.

Reminds me of the 2007 season on another forum. Some guys you would rarely hear from during the season, but 2008 they were back to being regular posters

I would imagine that some people just like to vent after a loss. Does it really matter?

Well, if you won't say it--I will. You are one of the better posters in here. Enjoy your "Touch of Hostility" posts.

not to me

an why not vent

I have been a Cowboy fan for a long time

but rarely say anything good about the team if they are playing up to their standards

because the team can always DO better an BE better

but have given Harris, Dez. plus the o line their props

enuf people praise them

but some one has to bring them back to reality

I think it has more to do with the fact that during good times said posters are out talking about the Cowboys in the real word. Content fans don't usually have much to say to anonymous strangers
on the internet.

After a loss when all the glaring weaknesses of the team and the coaching staff become apparent, certain posters become frustrated and vent behind anonymity while gauging the opinions of others on their same frustrations.

It's the same on every forum. After the Eagles beat the Colts the Eagles boards were mostly quiet, couple of "We're the best" threads you can come to expect from homer fans.

After the loss to Arizona? The board almost crashed from the overwhelming negativity from their own fans. It's not unique to this message board, this teams fan-base, or even football.

The best news is bad news.

I don't actually wonder if most of them are fans. There are a few trolls on any message board, but for the most part, you don't post that much about the Dallas Cowboys over the course of a long offseason if you're not a die-hard fan.
What I do believe, though, is that the guys you're talking about are not fans of CZ.com. I think they post here mostly to stir the pot or to agitate the community here and get some attention on the internet. It's pretty telling that when things are going well they're choosing to enjoy the winning streak elsewhere. That's not something you do if you're really invested in a community.

And @Doomsday, what the OP is talking about here is something very different from posters venting after a loss. There are a lot of posters who vent after losses, and that's perfectly normal and to be expected. We're talking about posters who post dozens of posts/day of almost pure negativity--rain or shine--who then virtually disappear during a 6 game wining streak. That's not just a pattern of guys venting after losses and enjoying wins, or wanting the team to return to prominence.

I've also noted, too, how happy the win streak made most of the mostly-negative posters (the ones who I think prefer to stylize themselves as 'realists'). I think it's been great to see more or less everybody on the same page for once. And it's been weird, for me, to go from being one of the more positive guys on the board to one of the more reserved ones over the course of a few weeks as popular opinion about the team slingshotted from despair to the sort of in-contention optimism we were enjoying there for a while. I feel like I'm never going to get to hang with the cool crowd.

That's an interesting take Idgit, albeit kind of one sided. I've seen masses disappear around here after every season when when we (again) don't make the playoffs. You know how it goes; make grandiose proclamations, claim your a better fan than anyone else, defend every aspect of everything remotely related to the team, claim every draft and draft pick's a resounding success, and then hide when you're wrong and blame the CZ and it's posters as the reason for disappearing.

Now fast forward to this season. Good things are happening and everyone comes out of the woodwork which I'd assume is a decent thing for a message board. Posters are (again) ridiculed as bad fans and even a positive post by some "realists" is hammered by those whose sole purpose here is to feel vindicated at 6 and 1 for being wrong the last few years. Call out after call out threads spring up that are self-serving so some folks can save their internet credibility after the past few seasons yet I don't see you or anyone else pointing to anyone's disappearance when things were tough.

I just find it real interesting.........

That's how I learned to take it years ago. In most cases, I don't think someone makes the effort to post after every loss, especially for years, if they don't give a crap or are simply a "troll." Folks are just wired differently. Some scream "Super Bowl, here we come!" after a win against the Rams, others need to see it to believe it. There's room for everyone.

I'm usually the complete opposite, I'll post after wins, or hard fought games, but ... When we lay crap on the field and let one slip away like that Arizona game, I tend to not post for a couple days. It makes me sick when we give away games that we 'should've' won, but back to the original post, yeah it's very noticeable which members are the ones who do that, constantly bash the organization, ect;
