Marshawn Lynch fined 100k for not speaking to media

Next time a fan tells a Cowboys player to shut up when talking with media are you willing to give him 100k to do so? lol

Right! This was for a third violation.. I wonder how much Marion Barber was fined, because he never spoke to the media. lol

True. Guys do not get the option. I remember when Dallas went to the SB and Lett was forced to meet with the press, he looked so uncomfortable, sweat was pouring off him as he sat in front of them and gave 1 word answers. I felt sorry for him

Talking to them is one thing. Controlling what you say so that you do not raise controversy is something completely different.

This is true, that is why the normal phrases are the best. 1 game at a time, I have been blessed, they are a very good team. and so on. Most players are not overly great with ad libs they tend to say things that later regret.
 
I get the whole money, NFL, contract thing, .. but they should just tie this to their opportunities for endorsements.

Make it so they have to talk to the media in order to get endorsements, ... their choice.

If they don't want to talk, they don't have to.

I don't see how they would be able to do so. Some endorsement deals are for companies that have no direct ties to the NFL or the individual teams. This is why when you see some commercials the player is wearing a generic football uniform and not a true NFL team uniform.
 
I'm not sure, but I think he'd basically be fine if he just went with "yes", "no", and "no comment" answers.

I was thinking more along the lines up things like "Up Yours" or "that is not what your momma said last night" If you have to talk to the media may as well get some laughs out of it. lol

I know a lot of people would hate that, and I'd hate it if my kids saw it, but yeah, I'd probably laugh too.
 
I'm not sure I get the NFL policy on not talking to the NFL. There are enough mouthpieces that are more than willing to talk or simply just can't shut up (Jones) in front of a microphone. Just because you are good enough to play in the NFL doesn't mean you should be forced to talk to the media IMO. I'll never forget poor Leon Lett at the Super Bowl and how I felt really sorry for him.

It's stupid and reporters are just fishing for a story.
 
It's really easy to avoid this problem if you're Lynch, or any player really.

If you really don't want to talk to them but you're required to do so by the league then you give silly, non topic, off the wall, make no sense answers.

That will eventually bore the hell out of the media people and they'll simply stop coming to you for anything.

For example if they come over there and ask you if there is a problem in the locker room, or do you have a problem with Russell Wilson, or whatever he could respond "Skittles are good." or "Lucky Charms is a cereal I really like. I eat it every morning."

Just give them answers that give them absolutely nothing and that aren't worth even printing because it's a waste of their time and they will stop bothering you. They're going to go to the people who want to talk, and want to tell them what they want to know.

Problem solved.

Well apparently that's what he did whenever they met with him yesterday.



And it's probably what he will do going forward.
