First time in Mexico. The hospitality is second to none.
The culture Is awesome. The people are great.

The only thing... Took all day to get to and experience the ruins.
Because it is now a "wonder" of the world you can no longer go up the stairs. It is cordoned off.

Not much of an experience. Just an up close visual.

Cozumel next year. :)

Cancun was exceptional. A concerted effort for excellent customer satisfaction.

Great, glad you love it there. Once you go to Cozumel, you will never go back to Cancun :D

I dove the cenotes a few months ago and that is the only reason that I ever go back to the mainland. Playa del Carmen is cool though but I will never travel North-East again from there :)

Ok. Don't build me up about this and then it's a flop. Lol

I will go again next year, this time to Cozumel, then I will come back and bump this thread to let you know if you were right or wrong?

Well, an important question needs to be asked, do you scuba dive? That is Cozumels attraction, for me anyways and the tourists are a little older. If I was 20 again, I can see the appeal of Cancun but it is too big now and lots more crime.

Anyways, I am always right and looking forward to a bump in a year :D

If you aren't certified, I suggest doing so before ya head there, you won't regret it.

Thanks for posting
Did you get to see the ancient sports arena among the ruins?
Crazy stories go with it.

Yeah, Cancun sucks, but they have much better hotels than Cozumel. That said, it still sucks. The hotels are right on top of each other and block each others Sun. That said, if you like to snorkel or dive. Cozumel is one of the best places to go! I love that place!

It sucks that they shutdown access to the ruins though. That blows goats. I still need to go to Stone Hinge, but they did the same thing there. Though there is a tour that goes extremely early in the morning. (like 5am) that will allow you access to the stones at Stone Hinge. You have to reserve like 6-8 months in advance I believe though. I'm doing going to plan on doing that.

I have been to those ruins in Cancun about 30 years ago and those stairs are very steep. You have to climb up and walked down side ways.

I've Climed the big one in teotihuacan, absolutely brutal the sideways trick didn't really help much

I remember how steep those stairs were and if anyone slips it was over. I am simply amazed on how they were built.

There are other pyramids you can go up but it's about 2 hours from Cancun. It's a fun time but probably not worth the extra time.

Cenotes are amazing - I could spend all day at one.

Also go to Cozumel or at least down to Playa del Carmen for some BOMB snorkelling. DOn't even need to scuba, the snorkeling is fun.

Mexico is a fantastic vacation. I plan on going again in the next year and saving money by NOT going to an all inclusive. I personally think it can be done cheaper by just renting a condo or going to a standard hotel. I don't mind cooking for myself or just eating cheap tacos all week :).

I can also vouch for Cozumel. I went there in 2010. I didn't need to stay in a hotel because I accessed it via a cruise ship. It's beautiful and the people were nice. I wish I spoke Spanish.
