I took a break from this forum and would like to give some constructive criticism as to why I do not enjoy this forum like I once did. This is the only forum that I have seen where there is not a "search" function on. This is crazy and it results in multiple post or subjects that have already been covered.

Are we not adults here? I just think that the over moderation of this forum is stifling. Because of this I have been more of a reader rather than an active poster but not being able to search makes that harder to do as well. I just don't understand why the whole forum is penalized because a minority of the posters choose to not act responsibly.

I can appreciate the work and frustration in moderating a forum full of rabid fans. Not all of the posters are the same and do the most part there is very little trouble makers. It just seems that the mods here take a shoot first ask questions later apoarch in doing their jobs.

Thanks for listening.

I'm a long time member, but left for a bit. I used to use Google to search the forum as it's way faster and way better than any search the forum had. I suggest you learn to use Google to search almost any website and not just the web. It's extremely powerful and a crap lost faster than most website builtin searches.

As for over moderation, well. I've never been a big fan of over moderation, but have you ever seen what can happen at a place like this? It can get bad in a hurry. Reality wants this to be a family board so he and the moderators keep the moderation pretty tight. For that, it becomes a deal with it or go some place else.

As for me, I just poop on everything and watch their reactions. Check to see if I get ban, if not. Poop all over everything again!

You're the worse trouble maker on here, Sam. I have no idea why we put up with you. :)

Yeah, Reality said long ago to just use Google to search this new forum (the old one had a Search utility). I would link to it but I can't search for it...

*ta dum*

The problem with that is that some of us who value our privacy absolutely will not use Google. I am a Duck Duck Go guy myself.

Searching for ISIS and bomb making stuff? If you looked at my search history, you would have nothing worthy of using for anything except selling me similar products. I have nothing to hide.

What are you hiding? :D

I've got a buddy who encrypts everything. He has nothing really worthy of encryption except his financial stuff. He won't allow his contacts and photos to be backed up to Google or anything.

Guess what? He lost everything because he was so scared of someone examining his stuff that isn't worth looking at anyhow.

I see you get my point.

Go live in your Orwelian world. Just because I have nothing to hide doesn't mean I give any company or entity tacit approval to invade my personal privacy.

Sigh. Freaking SHEEPLE. Go bury your head in the sand.

Anyway, we've solved the search conundrum. I'd like to say for the record that we most definitely are not all adults here, which is not always apparent to all forum readers. Personally, I think the mods here have always done a great job of keeping threads readable and on target even under significant traffic. Maybe I'm biased, though. I think that Idgit, in particular, is amazing. Again, maybe I'm biased. But I don't think I am.

That guy is gold.

I'm not burying my head in sand just because you tell me to. I'm an independent sheeple.

J1 is right. Just type what you are looking for preceeded/followed by "cowboyszone" and it works everytime for me.

I understand the alternative, I'm wondering why doesn't the site have a search function?

The search function in forum software is only efficient with lower post counts. We are almost at 6 million posts and using forum-based searching is very slow and server intensive. With Google, you can find what you are looking for much faster and with more functionality than you will find with internal searching.

The key is to add "site:cowboyszone.com" (no spaces between "site:" and "cowboyszone.com") to any search and it will limit search results to only this site. In addition, you can use a variety of other Google search options such as search time (last hour, last 24 hours, this week, etc.) to restrict your search results even more.

It's janky, so I'm only half-serious, but can't we add a google search box with the domain specified in the page footer and be done with this search field question?
