If we don't get Dez signed long term before the draft, don't be surprised if we take a wide receiver in the first or second round.
 
Dez can still be done after the draft. I don't think that determines when, if, where they take a WR.
A WR would be taken to replace Harris as a return guy.

Dez can be done anytime up to July, I think. From what I hear, the Cowboys are
comfortable leaving things the way they are. They're not sure they want to do
a 5 or 6 year deal with a 27yr old receiver. They've seen the problems with
the cap that occurs trying to get rid of a declining 31 year old and the dead
money it causes. I think they are going to let this Franchise thing play out
for the next year or two.
 
I wouldn't be surprised at all. I wouldn't be surprised if they took a TE in the first or second either. I wouldn't like it, but I wouldn't be surprised.
 
So, Dallas goes from needing to draft all defense to now needing a WR and a RB early in the draft all the while losing defensive players and adding one so far.

Way too many defensive holes to be drafting offense this year. They better get busy here on day two!

Yes, they have until July 15th. If Dez signs the tender, and no deal is done, then his FT deal counts against the cap. But I believe they can still negotiate a long term deal at any time. but won't affect the cap until 2016. I am not 100% sure of that, but I think it's close to being correct.
And yes, I wouldn't be surprised if used this year and next year if need be.
 
I wanted dallas to take a WR in the 2nd last year. The class was so good and we could have gotten a very good player.

I wouldn't be shocked and I don't blame dallas to let dez play this year and next year on franchise tags. Either way your going to guarantee him over 25 million. Might as well pay it all up front.
 
This defense has more holes then swiss cheese. We are not taking a wide receiver in the first round.
 
They need to get Dez locked up.. You don't trade up for cornerstone players and develop them to be top 3 at their position to let them walk and gamble on a late 2nd round receiver.

Or you can do both. Especially if a top 10 talent at WR falls to you.
 
The only top 10 talent WR that might fall that far is DGB and I doubt they take him there.They dont have a set of reliable LBs to trot out there now. Dont be surprised if they take one there.
 
I just can't see a WR being taken early...BPA is usually the mantra, and I agree with that....but, there are a few positions where BPA can't be taken in round 1 such as QB, TE or WR
