Fisher reiterates Cowboys interest in Bryce Petty

It will be a terrible decision, we are doomed if Petty has to play if Romo got hurt.

I like Petty as a long term developmental QB but he won't be there at the end of the 3rd round. We would have to take him in the 2nd and there's no way that's happening.

Oh we would do it if that's who we want.

The Cowboys usually do dumb stuff in the 2nd round so expect more of the same.

We throw that pick away every year.

It's not like Romo was a planned pick at Valley Ranch either...

Petty in the 3rd rd I would not have a problem with it at all. He is one of the few in this draft that I feel has a good chance to develop into a quality NFL QB.

I wouldn't even waste a 7th on Petty....He's made about as many NFL reads and throws as I have.

And yeah...I don't believe a word of Fisher's "inside info"

Whether you believe Fish or not.

The cowboys sent Wade Wilson to Petty's Pro Day and they set up a meeting and talked with him privately....so there is some interest there whether serious or not.

What else does the QB coach have to do at 10am on a Wednesday but to hop in his car and drive 1 1/2 hr and watch someone throw?

He is not going to waste his time going there if there is no interest at all.

Saying they are going there for no interest at is is kind silly...to put it mildly.

Wonder who the some at VR are.

There is probably a huge list of players that at least 1 person with the Cowboys likes, but the consensus lists is probably much much smaller.

Right, and that's why he's considered a developmental QB. He's nowhere close to being ready to start which would be fine in Dallas assuming Romo's back holds up ok.

Or we could just wait another year or 2 and draft someone much more talented than Petty and not waste a pick and roster spot praying he turns into something useful

So.... Let me get this straight......Fans who depend on YouTube and television. know more how a QB will project in the Pro's than professional scouts.. And people that get hired and fired by the decisions they make...

I believe we are interested in possibly drafting a qb at some point. Do I believe that because our qb coach took a relatively short drive to watch 1 throw that it means we have "serious" interest in said player? Nope. I think that's called kicking the tires personally. We'll see down the road though.

That's fine as long as you're confident Romo can stay healthy for the next 2-3 years. This QB class as a whole is horrible in my opinion but I do like Petty as a developmental guy. I would be ok with it in the 3rd round or later.
