Peter King's mock -- some interesting stuff...

I generally like King, more as a reporter than a football expert. I think he's a good writer as long as he sticks to what he hears instead of offering opinions. I think he's fairly plugged in, which makes his mock interesting to me. He has the Jets taking Peat at #6 and says he hates the pick.

Other stuff...
• He predicts Atlanta trading up with Wash. for Fowler.
• He has Gurley to Miami at #14.
• Dorsett at #16 to Houston.
• Philly taking Randall at #20.
• Cincy at #21 with Jake Fisher.
• Melvin to AZ, Agholor to Carolina and Peters to Baltimore.
• Mal Brown is the Dallas pick.
• Gregory and Ray? #31 and #32.

I'll take it.

Guess I can see Miami taking Gurley, although I thought they had a decent group of backs already. They need to fix their interior offensive line. Even Gurley will struggle behind that mess.

Interesting tidbit in that article is that Shane Ray failed a drug test in College.

I was hoping this was just the case of a dumb kid blowing off some steam after the combine and before the draft and that maybe he would fall to us...Maybe we would get a steal if his toe was not something that was going to be long term.

But now with this...not so sure.

Gregory is a Firm No for me because I think he clearly thinks the mary jane is more important that football...I don't know if I get that vibe from Shane Ray but now I have to wonder about it.

Gregory seems to have emotional issues that drive him to toke.

I'd like the pick too but, truthfully, I want a trade down more than anything. The more second and third round picks the better. Especially with so many holes on the defense.

I'm like you I prefer more picks, but you have to be careful that you don't outsmart yourself.

I hope Peter King's pick comes to past.

I would jump for joy if Dallas selects Malcom Brown.

Best line in the article: "The record of Baltimore with prospects who have had behavior issues is good."

Man, if Brown somehow fell to 27 and we then passed on him ..... hope that would not be the case, but off past drafts who knows. For me, it would be like the draft where Steven Jackson fell into our lap, and I was all stocked we would get who I had coveted all along ! Only to have them trade the pick and take Julius Jones in the 2nd....
So please, please, please, if he is there - just take him !

I can't see this team taking a DT at #27, especially if two of the draft's most dynamic pass rushers are sitting there.

This team and staff have shown that they feel they can get good production from less cost than a 1st round investment at the defensive tackle position.

I would not call what this staff has done at DT "good". A career year from Hatcher and an okay season from Crawford. Next to nothing from anybody else in terms of game impact.

I think they've pieced it together pretty well, considering the minimal investments they've actually made.

I thought Terrell McClain proved to be a worthwhile addition last year while Melton proved to be a solid reclamation project until he disappeared and was phased out about Week 10.

And while I do think there's obviously room to improve, I just don't see a 1st round pick being used to do it when there are what I feel to be higher areas of need.

I broke a remote that day.

I cannot disagree more. And your use of "pieced together" is the whole point. Why continue to have to try to cobble together a DL? We did that same thing for years on the OL, shoving out the OG and C equivalents of McClain. Why not just fix it?
