Stephen Jones Conference call **Recap Post #49**

Ask how much influence Will McClay has in the drafting of players and free agent acquisitions.

Ax him what the thinking is about long-term prospects for QB. Romo can't play forever and a rookie QB need at least 2 years to learn behind a veteran.
Tell him Gimmie say "hi!"

Good question, and will try if selected to ask a question

Ok because you will never catch me as serios so do not miss this chance. It is gold like Brian Williams reporting a story or like Ringo becoming a musical genus.

I'm looking forward to the call this year.

A year ago, and the previous few years, we were on the 8-8 train and antsy. I was one of the most optimistic fans around here last year (which was strange for me), but I was impatient, too.

This year will have a different vibe to the call. I like what's going on since Stephen and Will McClay took on such prominent roles.

A good question would be. Did they expect Gregory to fall to 60 and if not who were they looking at taking with that pick if he was not there.

Somebody please ask him what are they going to do to prevent so many opposing fans coming to our home games.

Sturm was saying some teams like the Patriots have a system setup that limits opposing fans from buying up secondary market tix.

@jazzcat22 @erod please ask above question.

The Cowboys use the NFL Ticket Exchange, so there's no way to control this internally. Plus, Dallas is such a transient city, much moreso than Boston. There are a lot of fans of all the major franchises here, and when one of the non-divisional teams plays here, their fans scoop up the tickets. The Giants, Eagles, and Commanders fans only do this when they're really good.

The best way to keep them out - and we saw this last year - is to be a good team. When the opposing teams fans don't feel real confident about their chances to win, they don't buy as much. And if they do, they're a lot quieter when they get here.

After that Saints game last year, the opposing swell of fans lessened more and more. The Colts fans had a miserable day.

Winning also means more of the Exchange tickets are bought by Cowboy fans, too. That'll be the case this year because the Cowboys have a buzz around them.

If Peterson were to come here.......holy moly, the tickets would be a hot commodity among Cowboys fans.

There were a nice number of Detroit fans in house for the playoff game here.
But not a lot....

Sheesh!

No everyone's a running back expert.

Wait. Emmitt Smith? ;)

What is it the Cowboys see in Ryan Williams that made them given him a bonus and also makes them hopeful about their running back position? And do they expect to see him contribute this year?

I can imagine Stephen's response would be diplomatic and evasive. I do not think they care about the opposing team's fans taking over. They are selling the venue as much as the team. You cannot say that for Gillette Stadium.
