Yes it is.

The right situation is to put clearly the best RB in the NFL behind clearly the best offensive line.

The draft is iffy. There's nothing iffy about AP. He's got at least two years left.

How is he "clearly" the best rb? He hasn't played in over a year. And he is 30 years old.

And he is still the best in the nfl

Also to make things clear, I am against a first round pick but I would give up a 2 and a 3

You proved my point.

Signing AP doesn't guarantee anything.

Romo can go down 1-2 games
Scandrick can miss 6 games
Offense can implode

I don't see the offense imploding with a veteran qb, extremely talented offensive line, very talented wideouts, and the addition of the best running back in the nfl...

Not sure why so many are against trying to become Super Bowl champs....there is a window and it's about 3 inches open. What are we preparing for 2018 with Dustin Vaughan?

People conflate living in the now to being reckless. Sometimes you need to know when the iron is hot, and you have to strike.

Well the iron is hot right now. We're having an historic off season right now, but we're clearly not doing great at running back. Rather than let that position hold us hostage we should make every attempt to give a catalytic player like Peterson. He singlehandedly made Minnesota competitive for years.

I think a lot of them just don't realize how good he is.

I'd rather see us start planning on putting together a sweet package to go and get a young qb to replace romo

If nobody else is offering a one for AP (Arizona supposedly wanted him) why should Jerry? He is still 30 years old.

Exactly, a #1 for a great two year RB
regardless of what he brings thats to short lived

Still can't see a trade for Peterson happening.

In addition, I had the guy on my fantasy team in '13 and he wasn't all that.

His last very-good season was three years ago now.

And then you have his ridiculous salary to consider.

there you have it

I am getting tired of hearing that AP is 30. This guy isn't your regular 30 year old back he is one of a kind and can easily play high level for another 3 years. AP puts us over the top now, who cares about 3 or 5 years down the line. Do it JERRY!!

who says,I've seen great backs disappear all of a sudden

They are draft nicks. Over value one pick. Unless that pick is a top 10 pick, it would be better to trade it for a proven vet At a position of need. It's the overvaluation of a pick which historically has much more risk than a proven commodity.

A superbowl ring is the goal. Are we playing for a count of PO appearences? Good organizations gamble on guys that can put them over the top.

Only way I trade for AP is conditional pick.
When was the last time Patriots, Steelers or Ravens traded away their 1st round picks? Good management rarely mortgage the future.

I would concede your point if we were talking about a top 15 pick, even up to a 20 but the consensus is that even with the best offensive line in football we don't have a proven back running behind it. I'd hate to see a "RBBC" leading to us, either missing the playoffs or just barely getting in & then losing. At best in that scenario we pick around 24 to 27 again & burn another season left with Romo. If not A.P. which would end up being (pick number 32 going to Minnesota), then I'd hope someone significant. If A.P. could be had for our 1st next year & restructured his deal, you extend his & Romo's career, I say pull the trigger, just MHO.

conditional of course. I'd trade a 1st Rd pick for a ring any day. We are stuck at 5 and have been there for 20 years.

It's amazing how one good season and people are assuming we will automatically be right back in contention next year. This league is too good all around. I don't care if you think you are better than another team on paper. We were 12-4 last year. Remember back to how many games we had to pull off some really good finishes to win in the 4th quarter. We barely beat teams like Houston and the Rams. We lost to the Commanders....we are guaranteed nothing from one year to the next. This league is full of games where the difference between winning and losing is 1 possession....

We have improved for sure on defense this offseason. We have not improved on offense. In fact on paper we are worse now than last year on offense.

If Adrian Peterson can tip the balance of a few games in our favor then we have to go get him. We can't count on Romo having to pull off spin moves with JJ watt rushing at him again this year. We can't count on a completed pass in the 4th quarter against Seattle that was caught by a guy it wasn't even throw to.

If we are serious about getting a Super Bowl this year then we need to remove miracles and as many lucky bounces from each game. We need to do everything we can to stack the deck in our favor on all sides of this ball. I believe Peterson does that. I don't want to give up a draft pick in a year but I also don't want to look back in 15 years and tell my kids that we had an awesome team led by Tony Romo and we didn't do enough to get the championship. I still feel the sting of the Packers game like it was yesterday. I'm still yelling that it was a catch. I don't want to be feeling this way again next year.

We have the pieces in place to be special this year. I have been on the fence all off season. I want Romo and Witten to get that ring so badly. Peterson stacks the odds in our favor that much more.

This just shows the amount of people who are led by Fear vs Hope.
If you are led by fear then you hold on to that future draft pick because you are too afraid to not have it...you are pessimistic and think we will need it that badly. If you are driven by Hope then you see the potential in front of us and you want to do everything possible to go after something special.

Ridiculous. I could just as easily say if you're led by fear you think we have to have a great RB to succeed. If you ate led by hope you see the hope that a new role brings.

Seriously, leave grade school BS psychology out of this.
