I must say. I am a big fan of the original and it's sequels. Yeah, some were bad I know.

But I must say these are lacking any real "oomph" or "surprise" or anything.

I really disliked Tim Burton's reimagining but just recently I read in great detail on the interwebs the explanation of the ending. Still didn't like but I understand it. So I get it.

Then.... They release "rise" before "dawn"... I know you can probably make an argument as to why that is the correct order... But I think it's backwards.

You know, about 2 months ago, it was on HBO and I finally watched the 2nd one. I thought it was terrible, and the 1st one, was mediocre.

You know.... I don't even really remember if I was looking forward to first one. I did remember seeing the trailer with the apes jumping down from above inside the biotech building.... Thinking wow... Cool...

The second one I had zero interest. I felt I knew the story. Turns out I did it was from earlier sequels. Ape kill ape. Blah.

I enjoyed both of them. The only thing that spoiled the first one for me was James Franco.
I've enjoyed both too, including Franco.

As far as the order is concerned, I see it as Rise depicting the era of zero intelligent apes to the first colony intelligent apes and Dawn as the era of first colony of intelligent apes conceiving the world as truly their own without humans. I see War as the next era where the intelligent apes making their concept a reality. That's how I would frame the sequence of films as logical.

I loved the original. Charlton Heston was great with his overacting. I liked the first of the reboots. The second one was garbage. The whole "let's fix the damn" MacGuffin was pretty stupid, especially the scene where they start charging their iPhones and act like they haven't seen electricity in 10 years.

There is something about the old ones the new CGI filled versions can't compete with, the originals feel more believable and haunting to me. That scene when Heston discovers the statue of liberty really freaked me out as a kid

I'll watch it. Kinda want to see how intelligent the apes become. Hopefully Caesar is back. He was a cool ape.

That's probably cause you saw it... as a kid.

Your imagination was probably better than any CGI you'll ever see.

The score and sounds as he makes his way down the beach on the horse, the slow reveal from behind with him in the background, the pan, the zoom out.

Masterful - what the mind can do with less. That's what the new ones are missing.

Oh the irony... His disdain for man/humankind

Only to bedevastated twice... Once when he saw apes running show... And once when he realized that they blew it up

I greatly enjoyed the original series of 5 films.

I've enjoyed these. Gotta say though the ape riding the horse through the barrage of gun/rocket fire in the last film while attacking the human stronghold was a pretty cheesy sequence. But overall I enjoyed the story.

I enjoyed the originals......and I am enjoying the new versions.....I have this to say though......There is no way those apes could get all those weapons and attack the humans straight out the gate and win.....there would have been a record number of weapons jamming from them not being used so long and being loaded improperly by the hands of them Dayum Dirty Apes.

I do wonder... If they make enough sequels ... Will the apes be more upright and human-like... Just like the original whereas they were thousands of years into the future already.

I love this stuff :)
