Is Heath better than Church?

Heath is trash. He made that dump pi play for no reason. That int he has was nothing more than a bad throw by Winston.

Yeah, but most of the other players on defense have been dropping bad throws by opposing QB's.

Heath, Wilcox, and Church are not NFL safeties. Dallas thinks they are, but they aren't.

Church never plays the deep safety any longer, where Heath plays. He's been a half step away from at least two interceptions. He has been banged up the entire season and, unlike Witten's playing through injury getting publicized, his hasn't. I am fairly certain his 62 tackles leads the team again. He has been instrumental in getting players lined up.

All that said, the guy is 27 and the injuries are slowly starting to mount. He'll never get the credit he deserves around he because he's not flashy, but he's not going to be easy to replace.

Don't let jerry read this, he would sign Church to a 10yr deal.r

Church is playing with a high ankle sprain. I give him credit for trying to gut it out.

Heath has improved a bit...but that's not a ringing endorsement.

Wilcox makes me cringe. I've seen elderly folks with walkers take better angles.

The Boys best coverage safety is Jones. He's replaced Wilcox in certain sets. But he also of course plays CB & they needed him there vs. the Bucs when Claiborne got hurt.

Would like to see the team carry both Patmon and White on the game day 46 man roster...and perhaps use White more at safety also. They've been leaving one or the other inactive, depending on who they want as the NCB that week.

Ideally neither would be back next year. And they can take professor Wilcox with them.

Its within the margin of error either way.....

Its definitely a position we have to upgrade next year, even if we make Byron Jones the full time FS. Heath has earned his roster spot though, he is primarily a ST guy that should only be on the field in a few substitution packages.

Its amazing how far Wilcox and Church have dropped in the last month.

Right now I think our first three draft picks are RB, S and WR - in whatever order the draft board dictates.

This is like asking if you want diarrhea to come out of the front or back end

Eric Weddle or Tashaun Gipson will be the starting FS for the Cowboys next season. James Ihedigbo is currently the SS for the Lions and he's also set to be a UFA this offseason. This is actually a really good year to be shopping UFA's for a good Safety or two...

Is Heath better than Church? That is like asking is it better to break your right leg or your left leg.

Heath is playing very well this year.

Huh?.....that would help explain 2-6. Marginal players are being credited too often. Guy had a game to remember, only to get caught with an undisciplined/unnecessary play in the end & at the most inappropriate time.

This is like debating whether dog crap or people crap taste better, I'd rather have pizza

Heath has been good for us this year. On special teams also. Give him some credit. Yea he's been horrible in the past but he's been good thus year. Church sucks , dude has missed so many tackles thus year

Has it gotten to the point where Heath is a superior player to Church?

One of the ongoing major issues with the defense is safety play. Church can hit and tackle but can't cover worth a crap. And I can't even talk about how bad Wilcox is. Not only can't he tackle or read defenses. He's a huge liability. All he was responsible for on the TB TD was containment on the bootleg. You know he was reminded of it before the play. Yet he doesn't even react until the QB is walking in.

At least they drafted a potential great FS in Jones. Now they need to bench Wilcox forever.

Heath is not very good, but he is talented, and he's not dumb. What he lacks most is experience...not experience that would necessarily make him a good safety back there, but without more experience, we won't really know what he is. Yesterday's penalty was a panic move from a guy who saw the receiver crossing and wasn't sure about letting him run and trusting other guys...so he instinctively reached out to slow him down....that's something that doesn't happen with experience.
