Is Heath better than Church?

I like church, but he can't even cover a TE....that's just not his game.

I'm not sure if he's better but he's healthier at the moment...

He's better in coverage. He has a lot more range than Church and doesn't seem to make those glaring missteps that Church makes. However, he's not much in the tackling department since he's not a big guy and I think his lack of wing span hurts him. I think Collinsworth is right...the safety position is becoming more like a hybrid safety/corner position in the NFL and that's why the Eagles have seen large improvement at safety with Jenkins and Thurmond and Byron Jones looked really darn good at safety. I think Heath is better as a rotational safety against 11 personnel to help stop the run and the pass.

At this point, Heath is sort of symbolizes the defense. I don't think he's the problem if he's put in the right position (backup, rotational safety that plays ST). But, he's not the solution and the amount of playing time he gets needs to be addressed.

Heath is trash. He made that dump pi play for no reason. That int he has was nothing more than a bad throw by Winston.

That's a big part of safety play, especially in zone coverage. You're supposed to make those INT's off of bad throws. That's why they often have the safety behind the receiver. If the QB makes a bad throw or it bounces off the receiver, the safety is now in position to make the INT. It's clear to me that is a major issue they have with Wilcox, he's often not in the right position behind the receiver. Church seems to be better at it, but doesn't have the feel or athleticism to make the INT.

Church would have dropped those gift INT's.

Heath did not.

Therefore, Heath > Church

Has it gotten to the point where Heath is a superior player to Church?

Heath lucks into a couple of interceptions and suddenly he's better than Church? Did you see the interference on the touchdown fumble ... with help behind him on the receiver? Silly play by a backup who is primarily on the team because of his special teams play.

I would think that most interceptions are the result of bad throws. At least he is catching the ball when he has a chance.

When he plays safety he is

Problem is, right now he's probably our best corner. Shame Carr hasn't worked out, Claiborne too - between a 50 mil corner and a blue chip top 10 pick, you'd think one of them would perform.

Shame a 5th round guy like Scandrick runs circles around all those guys. Jones looks like he's a player, freakish athlete and will only get better.

Heath was the beneficiary of two absolutely terrible throws by Winston yesterday. Had he not playing 10 yards behind the action (not sure if this is the Marinelli design or what), he never would have been in that position. You saw in the 4Q what happens when they ask him to cover.

Which one cause Heath had 2 Ints. He actually caught them unlike our other players who drop balls thrown right at them

So if I walk past a guy in the street and he hands me a $20 bill I think, "this guy is great!". I walk past the same guy the next day and he hands me another $20 bill. "I love this guy! He's the greatest ever!" The next day I walk past the same guy and he hits me over the head with a hammer and steals everything I have on me, do I still think the guy is so great?

Tip balls and bad throws. I hate the fact ppl are now saying Heath is a worlf beater now. If he made a ball hawk move then yeah I can understand the Health praise.

We have our FS in Jones. Now it's time to make sure we have a couple of decent CBs to play with Scandrick and a SS who can tackle and at least cover TE's.

Heath is not the answer. A gimpy Church simply isn't living up to what he's done in the past. Seems like every time we think we've addressed either safety position, something else goes wrong.

What are you talking about. Heath didn't hit somebody in the head with a hammer.

Not sure about the hate on some players. Heath has made plays this season and it doesn't matter what he did in seasons past. What can a player do right now
