I'm over there everyday too (is on my rotation) and honestly I've never "plenty" of articles on Romo's off season sports activities since the back issue. I think you used that as a throwaway line and it came back to bite you.

No worries though - it was a good post.

Romo himself (after the last back surgery) said he would not be playing any more golf as long as he is playing football. Something about how his swing torques his back.

Not sure about pickup baskletball, hower.

I think Dooley and Henderson need to go as well. It's impossible to really know for certain as they play under coordinators but I haven't liked the DB play here in a very long time. You really can't tell about the routes as the players are apt to not run them correctly no matter the coaching plus you have the QB checking and directing as well as the OC and coach playing their game as well. But we don't run stacks and picks well nor do we cover them.

I could go on but that's enough for one poster.

Brice Butler, if this kid gets early work with Romo in the offseason and can develop some chemistry with him, if they can get Romo to dedicate some offseason to training instead of golf and pickup backetball they could have something real nice opposite Dez. Butler does something that Williams cant and thats create seperation off the snap. Think McClay found another sleeper here.

Part of me gets excited about Bryce Butler and then part of me realizes that next year will be his 4th in the NFL and his performance this year is essentially fairly representative of his play so far in his career.

Butler has averaged 13 receptions for 195 yards per season. Not coincidentally that's about what he averaged for the Cowboys this season.

I suspect there is a reason why the Raiders shipped him out of town and why he was unable to beat out Street most of the season. The Raiders were tantalized by his potential but eventually moved on.

I hope I am wrong and that his 4th season in the NFL is the one where he figures it out. His time is running out -- he'll be 27 by the the time the next Superbowl rolls along.

As always LM I like your observations and appreciate the effort. Im not through wanting to see
More of Moore.

Moore is on tap for backup qb. He seems to have what we need at the backup spot and will have a whole offseason to show more now that the coahes see he can play. Starter? No. Worthy reliable backup? Highly likely.

True, but next year he won't be the #2 WR taking throws from Moore. He will be the #4 catching passes from Tony Romo. I'm fine with that scenario in exchange for moving down a few spots from our 5th round pick.

Moore looked awful in a loss. It could have been worse -- he could have looked awful in a win.

My thoughts:

* Didn't watch the game. Spent the time taking care of my father-in-law who is battling metastatic melanoma. Gives one perspective.

* We need a very good-to-great QB to make this offense work. We have one, but he's getting old and banged up. We need someone young to groom to replace him that is good enough to play backup when called upon until he's named the starter.

* We need an influx of talent at WR position. Cut off the head, which is Dez when injured or mentally out of a game, and the rest fold under their own weight. Butler looks like potential, but Williams and Street are not difference makers.

* Need a solid RB to compete with Mac. Dunbar skilled, but fragile so far. Not sure where Turbin fits, if at all.

* Think we all forgot how losing OScan early didn't help our secondary. Believe he was like the QB of our secondary and it shows.

* TE is probably something to address in FA rather than the draft unless a blue chipper falls to us after Round 3. Need a pass catching TE who can split a D.

* Coaches aren't going anywhere most likely, so we will have to rely on the FO office to find additional talent through the draft and FA. God help us!

Sorry to hear about your father in law..........my father had melanoma 10 years ago and had to have multiple surgeries to fully recover so keep the faith and pray a lot.

As far as the team goes, I pretty much agree with most of what you listed.

I suggest you go over to dc.com because in the offseason they had alot of articles of what he was doing in the offseason. Its the offseason but he looks sloppy and has for a few yrs now. Im sure some of that has to do with the state of his body. But if he cant put in the time to keep a healthy body and keep his body from being so frail then he needs to hang up them cleats.

Playing golf had nothing to do with breaking a collarbone.

Dallas will be drafting 4th unless they win. I dont see either of the top 3 teams winning their last game.

Tonight was frustrating to watch another loss in the final quarter, i like what i saw out of guys who this team can depend on in 2016.

Starting with Demarcus Lawrence, IDK what got into him the last 7 weeks but the guy just cant be blocked anymore. Atleast not one on one. if he can add another 5-7lbs this offseason he will be a beast next yr.

Terrance MItchell, the guy again played a solid game in the slot.Think this is the #3 guy at CB in 2016. And Olayote plays a very nice man cover game. He needs to work on his zone and off man as he allowed catches in this area. But these two seem like they might have filled some depth for the Boys. But i still think Dallas needs a starter at CB opposite Scandrick in 2016.

Casey Walker is a big man in the middle. He played real nice holding up. Even had two tackles and forced Taylor out of the pocket a couple times. We all know Dallas isnt going to spend or draft high at the 1 tech so i think Walker might end up being a replacement for Hayden if he's not back. Still Dallas does need more at DT.

Kellen Moore, will not be back next yr. The guy will probably make a nice QB coach in 4-5 yrs for a college team and make his way back into the NFL. He's really smart and it shows, but the guy just doesnt have the arm. That ugly release along with his noodle arm make him a scrub.

I like what Dallas has in McFadden and Turbin, but i dont think both will be back. Since mcFadden already has a deal for 2016 he will be back and Turbin wont. I see Dallas taking a RB high. Im hoping either a trade back for Elliot, or Paul Perkins in Rd2.

Dallas has 3 FAs who wont be going anywhere: Ron Leary, Jeff Heath(RFA) Casey Walker (ERFA)
But if a team were to offer a trade as in a pick for Leary snatch that up. Or give him that RD2 tender and see if a team bites. But most likely he is in Dallas in 2016.

Dallas has 14 UFAs and i can only see 2 that have a high chance of being back if that. Hardy and McClain. And i wouldnt be mad if neither is back. Hardy should but i wouldnt want this team spending what its going to take to bring him back and stop the development of Gregory. Because if Hardy is back, Gregory will never get a big number of snaps. McClain i just dont think he's worth the trouble of waiting for half a season for this lazy guy to get in football shape. The rest i can see gone.

Doug Free had a real nice game today. This is what you will get from him going forward. Some bad games then sneaks in a very good game like tonight.

Still cant express this enough on how much i think Dooley and Henderson need to be far away from this team.

Wanted to say that I really respect your posts generally and your consistently positive thoughts about how the team can move forward. Your point about Moore hits home - the guy is a "baller" but he doesn't have the requisite physical attributes to stick with this team...

I love backetball. It's a pretty unknown, but addicting sport so I can understand why Romo plays a lot during the offseason..

I'd give him a full season with Tony (a healthy Tony, that is) before I write him off as another WR with potential wasted. Tony has a way of making WRs look better.

There was nothing around him. The receivers gave him little chance and the running game was suspect at best. Install a real running game, get a healthy Dez in there and then you start to see what Kellen Moore can do. Even without all of that, he showed a few things in the loss yesterday.

Many good points and pretty spot on. I think RoMac needs to stay though. Maybe a 3 year deal gets him in the right mind set to be in shape with the right incentives.
I think Hanna is another FA that they may target to stay with the injury to Escobar.

If a player needs a long term deal to get in the right mind it's never going to happen. They'd be wise to avoid giving him any real commitment.

Agree. They would be wise to find a young hungry thumper type MLB in the draft.

Not sure there is any conditioning that makes your collarbone not break

And even if Bryant plays, Moore is not a starting caliber QB in this league. Backup? Sure.
