I could even live with a trade down in the first to get targe BPA.
Trade up into the first with extra pick and take him late first round.

O.K. To back this up with some numbers on a trade. Please forgive me if I missed that a team does not have a pick in that round.
We pick 4th. Trade partners could be San Francisco, Miami or Tampa.
Using our 1st round pick only.
Trade with San Francisco would be their 1st, 3rd, 5th and maybe 7th.
Trade with Miami would be their 1st, 3rd, 4th.
Trade with Tampa Bay would be their 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th.
Now with the extra 3rd trade the Cowboys 2nd round pick bundled with the extra 3rd round pick from one of the above teams.
Trade back into the first round at approximatly position 22nd to 26th if Henry is still available and his rating by scouting staff warrents that high a pick.

It get's the Cowboys a home run hitting back.
It get's trader Jerry some juice.
It get's a few extra late round picks.
All good IMO.

If we got Henry I would sure hope to gather another back like CJ Prosie just in case he holds true to form for the Alabama RB's. I like Prosie and both kids from Arkansas but there is something to be said about having to tackle Henry 20 times a game and getting around our Oline to add a level of difficulty.

But as I showed above, using the trade value chart, it is a plausable way to get him if he drops.

He doesnt play up to his size. Who was he running over really? Jacobs played to his size.

In the first image you posted, the one above, that is a zone-counter play. It is not as much good vision, as it is exceptional blocking (and an obvious hold ) and Henry going exactly where he is supposed to. They ran that play quite a bit last year, but early this year teams started covering it better so they didn't run it as much. It's a staple of the Chip Kelly offense too. The blocking scheme is zone, but it's really only a one run read. The RG made that run by destroying #51 of Georgia.

You also realize that, in the clip you used, just about anyone on this forum could have run for a big gain, right? Henry isn't even close to being touched until he is 10 yards down field. There was no read there, he simply ran where he was supposed to and his line steam rolled the defenders.

I have to politely disagree with you on Henry's cutting ability. When he cuts, he loses a lot of steam and gets very upright. I am not worried about what he can do in a straight line, I am worried about what he can do when he has to stick his foot in the turf and explode north. I think he is going to leave a lot of yards on the turf.

I can appreciate the time put into such a write-up, as I have done many myself. You raise a lot of good points. I agree that Henry is going to raise some eyebrows if/when he runs at the combine. It's going to be exciting. I think for Henry, his cone drill and shuttle are going to be most important, because he needs to prove he can cut and get back to full speed very quickly. He he runs the cone and shuttle drills very well, I think he's going to really help himself.

If you have a chance to go back to Henry, I would like to see what he can do when he is actually forced to diagnose, pick a hole to hit and go. All I have seen thus far further backs my suspicion, that he benefited greatly from a tremendous offensive line. I think he is a good back and a solid second round pick, but I still think he is a more physically gifted Brandon Jacobs.

If he drops to the second round, and it's our time to pick, yes.

But I would not trade up just to get Derrick Henry. He's not the type of back to trade up for. Sorry.

You talked to Henry? Ok, I can't argue with that.

The way the right guard and right tackle both turn there guys sure makes it look like it was designed to go right. It pretty impressive you can see his eyes. To me he is looking north the whole time. Either way, the line still made a gaping hole. I don't see anything there that really furthers your argument. I'd need a lot more than a few stills from one run play, considering what I have seen is multiple seasons and hundreds of plays deep.

I do not remember many CB's taking Henry down one on one. He is a weapon with our Oline, business decisions in defensive backfields will be made each week. He is not a favorite of mine but I can see his value. I would rather have Elliot but he will be picked after our first and before our 2nd IMO at this point in time before the combine.
