Oh, that I don't dispute. And I think he's a good fit for us. I'd just be floored if we took him at 4.
I like all the top 3 QBs this year. I'm not convinced they're good enough that two will go in the top 4. And if they did, I just don't think we like the third QB better than the top pressure player or top DB in the draft.
I'm not even saying it'd be a crazy pick (it's bad value there, but still probably cheaper than it would be to move up in a later year for a QB).
Now, I could see us trading next year's 1 in a bundle of picks to get to the Jets pick if Lynch is still on the board at that point. Thinking the extra year of development for a QB would put you ahead of where you'd be if you drafted a QB next year at whatever spot the Cowboys might end up in. We'd give up a year of eligibility, but Tony's not playing 5 more years, anyway, so that matters a little bit less. We just need to know we've got a guy who can play when Tony's done.
