Cowboys to work out QB Lynch

They are going to work out most of the top QBs, I believe.

And it makes sense IMO. Again, let's say they really like Lynch and have an opportunity to trade down, still get Lynch and get another couple of picks? I'd be for that.

I am of the mind that you either take a QB at 4 or look to move the pick. If you stay at 4 and are not taking a QB, I guess I could be persuaded to take Ramsey there but he would be clear option #3 for me.

Thanks...I started to click draft zone, got sidetracked form a call. Then just posted it.

Glad they are working out all the top QB's, as the only one I seen they were working out was Prescott.
 
This could be a good sign for those that want a QB at 4. With that said, hopefully we work out Goff soon :D

If memory serves, they have covered most of the bases. Wentz at the Senior Bowl, attending Goff's Pro Day, Working out Cook and Prescott, now checking out Lynch. I wonder if they plan on checking out Hackenberg? (Edit, they were apparantly there at Penn State's Pro Day since it was reported only Atlanta did not attend).

They should have a really good idea on who they can target after they draft Bosa.

The report I read had something to do with all the pro days, but don't hold me to that info if it's wrong. Lol

I agree, while I may not take Lynch at #4 I do like him and think he can develop into a top QB in the NFL. I don't think he is day 1 ready but I think he has the skill set and athletic ability to produce at this level.
 
Paxton Lynch QB Memphis

STRENGTHS
Paxton is a bigger version of Aaron Rodgers. He has excellent arm talent to make all the throws. He stands in the pocket and throws under duress with accuracy. He can throw with accuracy on touch throws and on the run, making him the type of quarterback for the next level that has the athletic and arm talent to become a franchise quarterback. Paxton has a very strong arm and can throw the ball down the field with velocity and power that will cut through a defense like a lance slicing through the enemy on the field of battle. He has those long strides when he starts to move down the field covering a lot of ground quickly. What makes Paxton remind me so much of Aaron Rodgers is his agility and athletic talent to slide in the pocket, extend plays and throw with accuracy from any release point. Along with this athletic talent and excellent arm talent, Paxton shows in his play on the field to have excellent leadership skills and the ability to deal with pressure on the field, but also stay humble with confidence and deal with the pressure off the field. If you’re a team that needs a potential franchise quarterback, I suggest you don’t pass on selecting Paxton in this draft. He has the potential to re-write some of the passing records in the NFL.

CONCERNS
Although Paxton is ahead of the curve with his athletic talent and arm strength, he will struggle to not turn the ball over at the next level until he gets used to the speed of the defenses he will be up against. Others will suggest that the competition level is also a concern, but really Paxton just has to keep his head on straight and keep improving in reading defenses and getting use to the speed of the defenses at the next level.

TALENT BOARD: ROUND 1
If you need a quarterback, I suggest you trade your mother, wife and your dog to move up in this draft to select Paxton. Remember, your dog will find its way back to you anyway so that’s a no brainer. Like I said, Paxton has Aaron Rodgers-type talent to throw the ball from any release point with accuracy on the run or standing in the pocket. He has the size that makes it very difficult to sack him with just one player and the agility to slide in the pocket or leave the pocket to extend the play. He has those quick feet to go along with long strides to cover a lot of ground quickly if he needs to run for the first down. Yes, he will have some growing pains, but the fans will see the potential the first play he runs after he is selected and they will wait patiently for Paxton to improve. Paxton can play under center or in the shot gun. He is smart and although the defenses he has been up against in college are not as difficult to read as the ones at the NFL level, he will learn quickly. Paxton is a franchise quarterback waiting to happen so don’t be dumb and not select him or that “happening” will be “happening” for some other team. In any draft all you can do is select players with the information you have in front of you at that time. My information says that selecting Paxton Lynch is obvious.

Not me. Think his fall has been greatly exaggerated. Has the most upside of any QB in the class. Id feel safer with Wentz or Goff, but I think they and other teams are going to fall in love with Lynch's arm

Oh, that I don't dispute. And I think he's a good fit for us. I'd just be floored if we took him at 4.

I like all the top 3 QBs this year. I'm not convinced they're good enough that two will go in the top 4. And if they did, I just don't think we like the third QB better than the top pressure player or top DB in the draft.

I'm not even saying it'd be a crazy pick (it's bad value there, but still probably cheaper than it would be to move up in a later year for a QB).

Now, I could see us trading next year's 1 in a bundle of picks to get to the Jets pick if Lynch is still on the board at that point. Thinking the extra year of development for a QB would put you ahead of where you'd be if you drafted a QB next year at whatever spot the Cowboys might end up in. We'd give up a year of eligibility, but Tony's not playing 5 more years, anyway, so that matters a little bit less. We just need to know we've got a guy who can play when Tony's done.

They may love his arm but Lynch is completely raw.

No team will touch him in the Top 5. If Dallas takes him at 4.................. there should rightfully be some riots.

Its really hard to tell how teams really views. There are always wonky picks every year that surprise draftnicks but teams below trade down as soon as the pick is made.

Lynch and Dallas seem to be a hot link right meow, and that really has to happen is for them the grade him out higher then Goff or Wentz and fear losing him in a trade back. If he is there guy, he is there guy.

He scares me a bit, but he has the combination of arm strength and touch that is very rare in prospects and coveted be teams. I think he is a guy you can see rise during workouts because of that and surprise people where he gets drafted
 
It wasn't long ago that both Lynch and Goff were considered the top QB prospects in the draft and many people had no clear choice.

I don't care who the teams takes at 4 if they turn out to be a player. Many people thought Bortles was taken early a couple years back but he is turning into a legitimate franchise QB.
