Mini-Rant: Why does every highlight video have crappy rap music as the soundtrack?

I've watched tons upon tons of highlight videos of prospects because, well, what else am I going to do at work, actually work?

Though I enjoy the videos on Youtube, I'm a bit appalled by the number of videos that have horrible rap music as their soundtrack. Make no mistake, I don't mind rap overall as I was an avid listener to Tupac, A Tribe Called Quest, etc., but the music that plays to this gibberish is your standard auto-tuned garbage from rappers who lack not only talent but substance.

I'm not saying I expect Simon and Garfunkel set to the plays of Jalen Ramsey, but c'mon, there's got to be some variety we can interject here.

What say you?

Because it's the music of choice for most who have the want to and the technological know how to make football highlight videos. It's also my music of choice and it think it fits best with the emotions revoked in me by football videos. What do you want, classical music?

By the same token though, if they all had hard rock playing then maybe I would have made your thread some day.

I'm a HUGE hip hop fan and I agree w the OP, some of these vids play absolutely horrible music (unbearable).
But that's this generation's preference, and I no longer question it. Just like the skinny jeans, and the tendency to act more feminine than they did when I was coming up, it just is.

Not my cup of tea but I'm sure my parents weren't into Wu Tang Clan, Boot Camp Click, Redman, Snoop, etc, the same way that I was.

This. And for the record I dont like any music on the highlight videos, I much prefer hearing the announcers going back over each play..But if its a case where I dont like the music, I just put it on mute.

I totally agree. Why is music needed? I also don't understand why we need any time at all devoted to seeing a guy walk down the tunnel, or how he high fives his teammates. Just show plays...

But like you said....if I don't like the music, I just mute it.

Aside from the great advice that is, "just mute it", lets go one step further. How about you go through the effort of making a video?

Raps been pretty bad since 2004. People say drake and Wayne are legend's lol theyre garbage.

I'm not a big hip hop/modern rap fan. It's like comparing Waylon Jennings to John Denver. When you think about Biggie,Tupac,Snoop,Dre even Eminem compared to drake and Wayne.

I agree completely with you. They shouldn't have any music. Ruins it. But today's hip hop is so atrocious it makes things worse.

You can put whatever music you want on the videos you create.

I don't get it. I'm a big rap fan, but couldn't they use some good rap? For once?

Then again, Kendrick Lamar, Tupac, J Cole and all the other good rappers don't really write lyrics that fit in with the highlight videos, I suppose.
