Just for fun, I recently made the prediction that if the Cowboys draft Zeke, they will go to the playoffs. If they draft to address a need anywhere on defense, they will be picking high again in 2017.

In continuation of the "fun", I will now predict that if they draft Zeke, they are going to give the man #22, in much the same way they gave Dez 88.

not a chance. Jackie Harris had 88 after Irvin, Antonio Bryant had 88. Irvin was a great player, but Smith is the all-time leading rusher in the NFL.

Well not so sure about Emmitt's Number but do agree if they Draft Zeke and Romo stays upright they should be back to
their 2014 form and a Playoff birth.

I don't think Zeke makes any impact if we make playoffs or not. Healthy Romo= Playoffs.
Broke Romo = No playoffs.. Record depends on when Romo gets hurt. So take the QB this year.

What does Zeke have do with making the playoffs? Its a mediocre division. 8 or 9 wins gets you in. Romo staying healthy should do that much alone. BTW they arent drafting Zeke.

Just so we are clear, though, I have said over and over in my campaign to draft Zeke that I am not certain he is the best option for the Cowboys...however, I do believe out of everyone they could potentially draft he would have the most significant immediate impact. Clearly, the Cowboys defense needs help...trouble is in my opinion, to fix what is broken on that side of the ball is going to take more than just 1 player.

So if they go defense heavy in this draft, I will completely understand. I'm just not sure I'm going to bother to watch. I have better things to do than be pissed off on Sunday.

Another option I have no problem with...provided they draft the right guy...and if they have their sights on the right guy, there's a good chance that guy will be gone by 4. Therein is the rub...however, at least if they draft defense and the Cowboys get a little more help from Romo not being on the field due to injury, there's a good chance they'll have an even better shot to get the guy next year somewhere in the top 5 picks.

You say that now. But I'm sure there will be a guy who just seems to figure out and blows up out of no where. Happens every year. Granted, a sure thing of the Andrew Luck variety will likely not appear out of nowhere, but I would not be surprised to see someone come out of equal if not better QB potential then what is coming out this year. The problem is, 1. Who fits the Cowboys offense the best and 2. Will he be there at 4? My guess is if the answer is yes to 1, with the Cowboys luck, the answer will be "no" to 2. Zeke on the other hand, absolutely should be there.

Obviously, the ideal scenario is one where the Cowboys trade back a few spots to pick up another 2nd and/or 3rd and still get Zeke. But I'll settle for Zeke at 4 straight up, as well.

With that statement, I should probably provide a better late than never notice: This belief that 4 is too high to draft a running back is retarted. It makes no sense whatsoever to me. This belief that running backs are a dime a dozen and you can find one just as good throughout the draft is also equally retarted. This isn't painting by numbers...far more complicated than that. The question is simple, though. Who will help the team more, in the short-term and in the long-term. Clearly, Zeke is a pick with the short term in mind. And that, in my belief, is where it should be if you want to get as much out of the end of Romo's career as possible. If you have given up on Romo, completely understandable - draft his eventual replacement or start the longer than one season process of fixing the defense - clearly Zeke is not for you because that would be a win now move.

When you buy the Cowboys, I'll believe it. Until then, this is Jerry's circus and my prediction sounds exactly like something Jerry would do...especially following a year like last year.
