Rams get #1 overall

Okay, clearly you're a little emotional about this for whatever reason, we're literally just talking through draft scenarios, so relax.

Rams are jumping up to take a QB, for a lot of reasons that I'm sure you're capable of reasoning out. A lot of people have already talked about some of those reasons in this thread.

Believe it or not, even without Tunsil, we may still not resign Frederick. Martin is a higher priority to retain, Tyron isn't going anywhere and Collin's will need to be resigned in 2017, if not earlier. This isn't an indictment against Frederick, it's the problem with playing in the cap era.

I'm not arguing BPA, because BPA isn't a realistic draft strategy, it just sounds great on a bumper sticker. Team's always mix need with talent when they make their decisions.

So who plays C in your scenario?

Wow. Steep price. Did not think that the Titans would get that kind of deal.

Still might not mean Wentz, they could like Goff more.

I'm shocked anyone would move up to 1 and give up that haul in a year when most everyone said none of these QB's were legit franchise QB's.

I know he's better than Free. But the OL was the best in football with Free so to me and they apparently think Green can play as well. So in that sense, Tunsil is overkill, especially when you have so many other needs.

Why do they "apparently think Green can play as well"? How is that a given, especially after a washout rookie season? That's as bad as counting on Randy Gregory for anything after his rookie year. If you get something? Great. A bonus. If you count on it? A mistake that could cost you dearly.

Great Tunsil is better than Free. And he makes the best OL in football............ still be the best OL in football. All the while, the defense, for example, continues to lack top shelf talent.

Sorry, but no one will convince me that Tunsil is a smart move given what this franchise has invested already in the OL and all their other needs.

That's fine. Opinions vary and you're entitled to yours every bit as much as I am to mine.

FREDERICK IS A CENTER, TUNSIL IS A TACKLE. THEY DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER.

It's a matter of value at position and cost. If Tunsil is rated higher than Frederick you keep him and let Frederick go in FA.
You then need to be in the center market again to keep the OL elite.

Wow.

This tells me that several teams were trying to get up to No. 1 for that pick. That is a huge price to pay, so they were able to just ask for everything.

I wonder if Dallas was among those teams or not.

Pretty much takes Wentz and Goff off the board, which pushes some guys to Dallas and allows the Cowboys to avoid Bosa hopefully.

It also sets up a trade down.

They could've drafted one next year lol. You just traded all of this for a quarterback who was projected to be a 2nd round pick just two months ago. It's moronic. The Rams aren't a qb away from contending and they surely aren't a Wentz away from winning:

Projected by whom? What NFL decision maker made that assertion?

Considering that teams are compiling and stacking their boards now, that's a very presumptuous statement.

Where has "most everyone" ever said that? Both Goff and Wentz are consensus top 10 picks. The Rams paying that cost to move up to #1 only reaffirms that fact.

And a completely inaccurate one.

The reality is that he probably doesn't make the OL that much better.

You are right.......... Dallas does have other draft picks............... so they can take a RT with one of those instead of using another premium pick on an OL that likely doesn't improve the OL greatly to begin with.

It would be bizarre to take Tunsil (or any OL) at 4.

At that point, if you don't want Bosa, the choices would be Tunsil which would be Draft BPA or Elliott. I would opt for Elliott
as the least risk choice if we're stuck and can't trade down. Someone might covet Tunsil and come up a few spots for him..
Maybe, the Titans would come up from 15 for him...we don't know.

No, apparently some still refuse to believe it. Moronic, but true.

Yes, these quarterbacks are so awesome, nobody knows which one the Rams like. LOL

Desperation leads to bad QB drafting decisions. The success rate is less than 5 percent.

QBs are ALWAYS highly thought of by teams that are pathetically desperate for one.

That's why scrubs like Weeden, Ponder, Gabbert, Locker, etc, go in the first round.

The fact is that you either have one or are desperate for one.

You're trading away two years' worth of draft picks, or you're paying Sam Bradford $18 million and Chase Daniel $7 million while still looking.

If that doesn't make it clear enough for some people, nothing will.

Um, pretty much everyone has said that the Rams are going with Wentz.

And only worse the longer you wait. That's a fact.

But you sit back and act smug thinking that you somehow 'know better'. Ignorance is bliss.

I've been very anti-RB at 4.

But in that scenario where my choices are either Tunsil, Jack, Elliott and a trade down isn't an option.............. I might hold my nose from the stench and go Elliott or Jack (assuming healthy) before Tunsil.
