Not sure how I feel about Crawford being moved between DT and DE possibly.

Makes me wonder if they are debating on taking a 3 tech somewhat high this draft.

I question any thought process that includes the believe that our pass rush woes will be positively affected by playing Tyrone Crawford at defensive end.

Was referring to his saying who they would draft and whether or not they would consider moving up.
In other words, be honest and at least say when something is possible (however small the odds are)

If he had said people were calling and they weren't, well, that would be a flat out lie.
They asked him so he answered.

Plus, draft day when you are on the clock is when that 4th pick comes into play for real. Almost all trading (other than where's there're player availably certainty) is done on draft day.
Of course, you know that though.

No, you aren't lying. Just deflect the question. Say you have some options at 4. That's it.

When you tell people that no one is really inquiring about the 4th pick, you aren't driving up the value of the pick, you are actually lessening it. Now some teams might think that we are stuck and no one wants our pick so maybe they can come in with a lower offer and if we panic, we'll take it.

I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to see that - despite what some Cowboys fans might think - the #4 overall pick isn't currently in high demand. Given the other moves, the other picks, and the other teams involved, why would anyone be talking to Dallas about #4 anyway?

Well, they did bring in Deforest Buckner and Sheldon Rankins for official visits.

4 comes into play if one of the QBs drops or Tunsil is there and someone behind us like Baltimore or even the Titans want to move up.

All I am saying is if I am Jones and I want to keep all my options open, I don't just announce to the world that no one wants my 4th pick.

Tunsil is it. The QBs will be gone, doubtful anyone is going to move up for Bosa, Ramsey or Elliott. If the picks go Goff, Wentz, Tunsil they are probably going to be stuck in the 4th spot or taking significantly less than value to move down. Damn you Washington and Miami games!

Or maybe they move Bosa to the 3 and Crawford outside on 3rd downs?

Kenny Clark?

I like him...think he is talented. The draft is deep at DT and I think they would be remiss not taking one early (rounds 2 or 3). The goal is to improve the DL, be it at DE or DT. If you have a DT rated higher than a DE...take him and add talent to the DL. I don't care where the pressure and sacks come from...just bring it.

Did anyone really expect our phone to be ringing off the phone at this point? I am sure there may be some "feelers," at this point, but until the Rams make it official, why would anyone trade up even to the 2nd spot if there was even the slightest risk that their guy could be gone? On draft day, if Wentz, Tunsil, or Ramsey are still on the clock we will get offers.

To the Crawford thing, I see it as being a very good thing that our three locked DL starters have position flex ability. Thornton can play the 1, the 3, or even LDE. Crawford can play the 3 or the LDE and DLaw can play either RDE or LDE. This way we can take the best overall prospect and not worry about just targeting one position.

Unlike Jerry, Steven usually says the opposite of what he wants. He is more strategic and likes to keep secrets.
He mentions Pass rush so much to throw teams off the Jalen Ramsey scent. Now if it was Jerry then I would think it was going to be Bosa...

Didn't Ramsey say Dallas has shown him the most interest of all the teams? Yet jones just mentions pass rush.

I take his statement that he's inviting competition to call on the 4th pick and anything/everything is possible to make a deal. I don't see the harm but then again it's usually best to say less than more when actually negotiating, "the power of silence" as they say. Now if Jerry's on the phone, (after a few scotches) he'll give away half our picks before he finishes his first sentence.

One thing you should probably not be saying is that no one is calling you for your 4th pick in a trade. If anything, say teams have shown interest in moving into that 4th spot.

There's so much subterfuge the days leading up to the draft, I don't know who to believe.

Very true but I struggle to find the benefit in saying that no one really has any interest in your 4th pick.
