Twitter: Cowboys Release long snapper B. Hartson and sign TE Austin Traylor

There were reports they had signed Traylor as an UDFA before the rookie mini camp. So I guess he shown enough for them to sign him for real.

Very good blocking TE with limited receptions in college. Hope he gets a chance at fullback as we are experimenting with converting LBs and RBs to do it anyway. Role flexibility could give him the edge over Smith and Smith.

AUSTIN TRAYLOR, TE, Wisconsin (6-2½, 250, 4.90). Played at Columbus Walnut Ridge. Five-year player started the past two years. "He's the best blocking tight end I saw the entire year," one scout said. "But it doesn't look like he can run at all so I don't know what you're going to do with him. He's your old-type tight end. He's not draftable." Caught 17 passes for 234 yards (13.8) and four TDs. Vertical jump of 33½, broad jump of 9-5 and 16 reps on the bench. Projection: Free agent

Strengths: Traylor possess nice size for the tight end position, and caught the ball well as a senior. He's a very dependable blocker, as it was his main responsibility with the Badgers. Lined up in a variety of different positions for Wisconsin, in-line, at fullback, as a wing and flexed out in some trips formations. Traylor possesses decent athleticism, and is a load to bring down after the catch.

I expect Traylor to be in the mix at FB. Good positional flex as FB/TE - highly rated blocking TE at Wisconsin

ummm ...he can block? Put him right up there with the big fellas and get that EE Train going...

Old people never will give up on the fullback idea.

Position is dead folks.

Get over it
