Dak Prescott shines in work with Jason Witten, Dez Bryant

I hope they hold off on signing a vet QB. Both Prescott and Showers seem to be progressing and a vet will just put a halt to that by taking most of the reps. We drafted Dak so give him a legitimate chance to develop. By all accounts he had the talent and intangibles when we drafted him and he is learning and improving daily. That sounds to me to be exactly what you want from a rookie QB. If he doesn't look very good in preseason games then, yes, start looking for the vet backup. One will be cut because there are several teams with 4-5 QBs.

I don't see us keeping more than 3 qbs. So if a vet is signed, it'd mean Showers isn't on the 53.

What bad news are you talking about?
I keep hearing he's not playing very well. Broaddus has said it a couple of times and I feel it's either been repeated on the two Cowboys shows or I've heard it on here.

I'm worried he hasn't recovered from his foot.

I hope he does step up as he looked kinda lost in the scrimmage, where Showers looked much better. It would be great to see them both perform well

Gotta say one thing for Marinelli . . . he's got some kinda cajones for his willingness to take on big Leon! -- lol

I was thinking Leon had the cajones. Rod is his boss. Usually that kind of thing gets you fired.

All this bad news about Dez is worrying me though.
What bad news are you talking about?

Well the no news is bad news, because he isnt dominating anyone or even getting accolades of any kind.
The thing is dez hasnt really played much since 2014 .
He is going to have to play back into game shape, and get in a groove again.
Plus vets dont really get into it till the season starts. or maybe the one ps game where they actually try for a qrt or half.

I was watching the SB again, and the other wr that got the big payday along with dez was D. Thomas, and he didnt do
anything in the SB, I dont know how he did in 2015, but could be he didnt do much, which would mean
both guys got a big payday, then had a really bad year.

But I dont expect Dez to be back into the groove, or in 2014 form till 4-8 games into the season.
Romo may also not be in top form, since he didnt play much at all last year.
Same for scandrick.

All ive read since like day 3 of camp is Dez is knocking rust off and improving daily. Actually, yesterdays report said they have been moving him around and hes been killing it. So i dont know. Im just happy to hear they are moving him around, been waiting years for that.

Glad to see Dak having what was said to be his most consistent practice. Look forward to seeing him out on the field this coming weekend vs the Rams
Really curious to see his composure against enemy fire. The Rams under their new regime/digs will bring it all they can. They are cheap but nasty bunch and will hopefully test Dak's pocket presence. I'm really hoping Dak will show some Russell Wilson like abilities to eventually become our new #1.

Well, that sounds much better. You're right they have said knocking off the rust. I guess I'm starting to focus on too much of the negative. Even adding it possibly where it doesn't exist.

Wonder where I get that?

Being a cowboys fan will do that.

Happy for Dak, hope he gets a shot. I remember watching him play my hogs, and I remember screaming at the screen.....someone stop that guy, he is killing us.

I believe he is a gamer, he carried that team on his back in college and when the lights came on he was there. Don't think he will be ready just yet, but hopefully Showers is ready for this year so Dak can sit it out and we don't have to bring in a vet.
