This brings optimism to the table, if only for the conversation involved around it...a linebacker? Hooooah!!

The only thing Prescott has over Romo is mobility and maybe a little more zip on his throws at this point. With that said if he plays extremely well itll be hard to go back to Romo. I think you end up dividing the locker room and messing with a recipe that is working just fine.

If Prescott plays anything but off the charts spectacular its probably an easy sensible decision though. For Prescott to continue starting he probably has to go atleast 6 and 2 and still be playing at a high level assuming Romo misses 8 games. However, hes likely on a tight leash knowing Romo is available. 5 and 3 is questionable but anythjng plus or minus 2 games away from .500 likely goes back to Romo.

This game is complicated and Tony has it figured out for the most part. Dak will make all the right moves but his second sense about things will not be defined for a couple of years and I think that difference is enormous. If E Elliot is as good as I think he is, Dak will have a blessing for his first six NFL starts, we need to give some credit to the signing of A Morris as he turns this RB duo into a monster.

I am optimistic that Dak can do alright, but I am not expecting much. If he can minimize mistakes and get some first downs with his legs, I think we can win more than we lose with him. Not expecting greatness right out of the gate.

Scott made some valid points about Tony's physical limitations but Dak can't match Romo's knowhow just yet, that's for sure. We should be capable of drawing more knowledgeable comparisons in the weeks ahead, once we've had more samplings of Dak's abilities. Things should prove to be extremely interesting in the meantime. Here's wishing Dak and Tony good fortune, regardless of what the future holds for both.

It depends if Romo can come back healthy. If he comes back and gets hurt and Dak plays well than I think the changing of the guard will be sooner that some think. We shall see.

Exactly... I love Tony, but am concerned about his health... I believe in what I've seen in Dak, but it has been a small sample size....

The field is where the proof will be... simple science.

I can see your point here. If Romo came back in and got injured again! I could see a sea change happening but it wouldn't happen without causalities

People just love controversy and they love dumping on Romo. I just re-watched the 2014 Saints game and Tony was killing it. If his back gets right I'd have no problem handing him back the reigns.

PS. Romo is 10x the QB Bledsoe was.
Tony is 10x the QB when he's injured and willing the Cowboys to victory.

Former NFL linebacker Bart Scott, now an analyst for NFL on CBS, recently joined the The DA Show on CBS Sports Radio to talk all things football, including the Dallas Cowboys. Here are some of the highlights:
On the Cowboys' quarterback situation:

Scott: "I mean, this could be the Drew Bledsoe-Tom Brady passing of the guard, because Dak Prescott brings a different element to the game that Tony Romo can't -- his body can't. He can't be reckless with his body like that. Hey man, Dak has no scar tissue. He's got live legs, he has a live arm and he has confidence, and he has the support of his team. His teammates know that he can play. And everybody wants to discredit what he did during the preseason, but I can remember them doing that to another young, athletic quarterback that was drafted after the second round in Russell Wilson, and he just continued to improve and improve, and with that offensive line, it's gonna afford him the extra second that young quarterbacks need to process and go through the route tree and find outlets and make smart decisions with the ball, and also he has two running backs. Alfred Morris, I think, is one of the best pickups in the offseason."

Does he think the Cowboys are better with Prescott?

Scott: "Yep."

If he thinks Romo gets his starting job back when he returns from injury:

Scott: "They'll give him his job back because Jerry Jones has invested a lot in Tony Romo. They're gonna give him his job back and see if he can still maintain the level of play. But if the team dips and loses some games, you know, they might say, 'Tony, you know, your back's still hurting. He had a setback.' They might shut him down that way."

Yes and no mates.
If Tony were to be healthy today, I'd start Tomy. Romo is a known quality. Dak is unproven.
Remember when the unAmerican 49er QB was all the rage? Some young players flame out soon. Not saying Dak will flame out, but a couple of exhibition games do not make a star.

On the other hand mates, Romo will or should certainly retire at the end of this season.
He has been quite the tease as far as playoffs and crunch time. His health for some several years has been game to game.

Dak or anybody else who is capable is the future.
But, blimey! Who the heck is Bart Scott?
